      Point in the right direction?

So I haven't been able to dream in quite sometime and when I did they were bad. Can anyone point me to some thread, literature, or other source of info on not only remembering dreams but steering them away from the darker sides?

I stumbled across this site and read around a little bit. If i could learn to control my dreams the way some of you guys do I can actually look forward to going to bed at night.

Any help would be very welcome.

To remember your dreams, start a dream journal. Lucidity will help you gain control. There are many great threads here on techniques.

This may sound wierd, a thing that help me is when your going to sleep, tell yourself to remember your dreams. Spend a good 2-3 minutes meditating and focusing on the idea, try to feel what a remembered dream feels like. And also, don't simply let yourself drift into sleep. Clear your mind and make yourself sleep without ruminating negative or repetitive thoughts, keeping in mind that the goal is to dream and remember your trip in the morning.

Another trick, set your alarm 1 hour too early. Lets say you need to get up at 7, wake up at 6, reset your alarm for 7 and go back to sleep. I garantee you will remember a dream.

This should be a good place to start.
