I wonder what caused the dream interest spike in 07?

I noticed at the bottom of the main page on the forum that the most users ever online was a whopping 800-900 people! Now that's busy. I wonder what caused such dream interest in 2007 that caused all this interest in LDing? Why aren't people still as interested and what can we do to get people more interested?

When did this site originate? I'm interested.

I have no idea, maybe it became a fad for a lot of people during that time. Or everyone just had really good/ interesting/ scary dreams the night before and jumped online all at once.

As for when the site originated, I have no idea, but apparently before 2007.

Site originated in 2002, forum in 2003. I believe my dates are right in that.

2007 was a big year for dreaming, but I'm willing to bet that most of those numbers appeared around mid-December...

EDIT: Just checked the number you were talking about. Something happened that summer, I can't remember what I was. I believe their was a glitch in the software or something due to spam-bots that caused such a massive spike in activity. There was a lot of activity back then, and the spike was large, but I think something is exaggerating exactly how large it was.

If we could get some of the charts out of the Admin hideout, we'd be able to determine more accurately.

My guess is that some sort of cultural phenomenon might have encouraged people to explore and learn more about dreaming. However, it probably just originated out of sheer whim.

I think Attack of the Show did a segment on LDing in '07, taunting viewers with beautiful women that they could in fact get "in their dreams"

Very plausible as this happened around MIDNIGHT!
