      Creature on my chest

So, a couple of nights ago I was having some weird dreams relating to zombies and such (yeah lol) and then I woke up in my room. I looked at the time (around 6am) and then tried to get back to sleep, I stared at the roof for awhile, and then closed my eyes. A minute or two later, I felt something walking in the room but I couldn't open my eyes or move, I panicked, it then jumped onto my bed, like an animal / cat or something and gave off a strange growling sound, it stood on my chest / stomach (thats where I felt it) and its growling grew intense and loud until all of a sudden I could move and nothing was there.

I didnt get to sleep again after that....

Now What was it? Was that a dream, or was that some form of Sleep Paralysis? If so, how was I able to check the time before it occurred?

Congrats, you had sleep paralysis complete with the sensed presence, auditory, and incubus hallucinations.

Why wouldn't you be able to check the time before it occurred?

Oh, I always thought Sleep Paralysis was instant from wake, like you dont "fall" into it.

Last Time I had sleep paralysis was a few months ago, it occurs a few times a year. Scary as f*ck lol

Hehe, unlike most people on this site you're more correct about the time of onset- it's WAY more common when you are waking up than when you are falling asleep. But no- it's possible at either time, sounds like you had a dead-on SP experience.

I know it can be terribly frightening, especially with being unable to move. If you ever have it again, remember to remain calm and just remind yourself what it is and that it will be over in a few short moments. Wiggling your toes/fingers, your eyes, etc. should help- concentrate on the extremities which should be slightly easier to move to get out of it.

During SP you ought to be able to open your eyes and look around, so chances are if you can't or if you're seeing anything other than your normal empty bedroom, it's just a hallucination so remain calm

Also- lots of people experience euphoric and pleasant feelings and hallucinations during SP. Likely, fear is going to be playing a huge role in whether the experience is positive or negative. Try to read as much as you can on the topic so if it ever does happen again, you're nice and prepared and can stay calm, observatory, and appreciative of the cool experience it can be

Ok, thanks for your detailed reply

Whilst your watching this forum I might also mention another interesting thing that occurs more frequently (but not recently). Sometimes I've had weird "Half sleep paralysis wtf" episodes where I can just barely move, but I feel extremely euphoric, as if I have been drugged, what's weird though is the more I thought about things, visual images, just random thoughts, the deeper it got as if I was being pulled into a dream, but just as It would get to its peak I would loose concentration and wake up. Also, when it happens I can hear the blood flow through my ears, my heart pulse, and I start shaking uncontrollably, I don't get particular scared by it, because it mostly feels voluntary and I can stop it at anytime.

The reason I found the other sleep paralysis episode scary was because it of the creature, if it weren't for the creature I would of enjoyed it, but when you cant move when there is something on your chest sounding like its about to pound your face in, you don't exactly feel happy.

Anywho, would this also be regarded as something close to Sleep Paralysis, or what would it be labeled? And, if it's common can you give me any tips to make it more interesting?

Hehe yeah, no kidding- that is not a good experience to have. Trying to just be calm and keep it in mind can hopefully help a bit and make sure if you do keep having it every so often, you won't get any scary hallucinations Cause those aren't cool

      (btw,welcome to DV )
