      Common problems during WILD attempts.

I have been practicing WILDs for over a year now and have only achieved lucidity through it once. However, it still remains the only technique I have been successful with. I encounter 2 problems when I attempt a WILD, I either fall asleep, or I remain awake for several hours before giving up and falling asleep normally. If someone has any advice or experience with this, please help me out. I write down dreams whenever I have them, and do RCs too, so I am working on it

WILD is where you go to sleep and time yourself to wake up during an REM period and then go back to sleep putting yourself in your previous dream and remembering to become lucid right? I tried that last night, I was planning on staying awake like half an hour before I went back to sleep because a book I'm reading said that staying awake for half an hour to an hour before going to sleep increases chance of lucidity by 20X, but I was never able to wake up.

New WILD tutorial? I checked the tutorial's page and the WILD tutorial seems unchanged, maybe I'm missing something?

      That sounds more like MILD

And yes, there is a new tutorial written by Seeker. As a person who is trying to learn how to WILD I think it's very productive and has some excellent tips for problems about falling asleep. It's called The Five Phases of WILD

I have gotten to the color flying part without waking up 5-6 hours, then when I'm supposed to wake up, my body feels like it's slowly bobing up and down. and than when I get up go to the bathroom, etc. I lay in bed and I say im dreaming once in my head, and then i just fasll asleep as if nothing happens, should I abandon the waking up stage?

      -Good tutorial btw.

Yes, maybe wait a little later in the morning and turn more lights on for a little longer.

I tried WILD tonight. First I had troubles relaxing, but then I turned into my side. Then I started to hear whistling. It become stronger and stronger and I started to hear some kind of click-sounds too. When it was about to blow my mind, it started to quiet down untill I heard nothing. Soon it started again. This happened about 10-20 times, but I wasn't able to drift into dream. When I tried not to concentrate on it, the voices were somewhat stronger. Anyway, finally I fell asleep normally

I think I was pretty near of succeeding. Any tips/advice/analysis appreciated.

If you hear a sound like that your within like 5 seconds of having a WILD. I have been trying WILDs for over a year too. Its worked maybe 5 times, 2 of which I woke up in the middle of the night and fell back to sleep and I wasn't even trying. 2 others I wasn't really lucid and it wasn't really a dream. If you ever had them, was kind of between a day dream and a real dream, and isnt very vivid. Anyway I know alot about WILDs but I suck at doing them heh.

The one thing I really don't understand is why WILD's seem to get harder and harder for me. Normally your practice something and you get better, I get worse. The first like 5 times I tried doing a WILD I felt vibrations, first 3 times I heard a little bit of noise. Since then I have never heard or felt anything. Why could I the first few times, then 100's of tries after, not a single one give any results?

This is very similar to my experience, the first time I tried it I did quite easily and it was very vivid, but I've had no luck since then

I wonder if your body tries to adjust to it or something, since its not normal.

Yea, I know that it's the sound where your state of concious changes and you start to dream. The weird part is that I got that sound 10-20 times in a row. That state lasted for 2-3 minutes Once before I got that sound (though a bit different one) too times in a row, and I was awake after them.

If you don't expect it(or even if you do), it can wake you up. If trying to lay still and relaxing doesn't work, maybe try to picture something in your head and create the dream yourself.

I get too excited at that point, or start to open my eyes inadvertently. I can't wait until later this morning (there I go again); I'm going to try my best to calm down by the day dreaming method.

I have similar troubles. Right before the dream starts when the vibrations get astoundingly strong and a ringing or buzzing in my ears gets so strong you can feel the sound waves, I have a tendency to be woken up. I can get to this point almost every time I try nowadays but 90% of the time the sensations are so strong they just force me awake.
