If you ask me, even if they do see the movie. They might not care about lucid dreaming still, take my brother for example. He doesn't give 2 shits about lucid dreaming. I found out what lucid dreaming was from accidentally coming across a definition in Wikipedia. My friends think it is a joke, but I think its really cool.
I dont understand why people dont care about lucid dreaming though. What isnt attractive about going to sleep and getting to act out all of your fantasies?

Dream sharing has become a popular topic in this forum. What if criminals decide to take it to a different level. Some of us may not take so well to having our minds invaded. I can imagine people committing suicide because of 'dream bullying'...and people being manipulated into doing things they never thought they'd do. People can go INSANE because someone got into their head and fricken messed them up.
...And what would we do if dream invasion became a common thing? There's no such thing as dream police. Can you even arrest someone for hurting you in your dream? How can you prove they did it?
What if we get some nutcases that start confusing dreaming with reality? They might kill themselves!
No! Our corrupt society isn't even ready to take on dreaming! It would be CATASTROPHIC!
Except dream sharing is a complete myth without any evidence ever collected in a scientific trial.
I don't think a movie would create such long term enthusiasm throughout people even if it was called lucid dreaming.. altho a lot of people would think it is cool, most people are more interested in making money or the waking world to even take a second look and put their time an energy into practicing it.
It shouldn't take anything away from your lucid dreams themselfs, maybe the social side of lucid dreaming mainstream would get irritating but why let society govern your personal feelings and decisions and turn it into boring just because now everyone else is doing it?

YouAngerMe, I read your post.. And I probably would understand your concern if I wasn't as sceptical as I am about the topic..
That's the only reason I laughed... "Dream Bullying" is not as feasible as it sounds... There will probably never come a time where the average "Joe" will believe in shared dreaming, just because some say it's possible..
There may come a time where Lucid Dreaming becomes popular... but shared dreaming; is unlikely to be proven... (In the near future, that is)

I want lucid dreaming to be popular.
I want everyone in the whole world to lucid dream. We would have a better global society if everyone were lucid dreamers.
I'll just pipe in and say that this here Noob got here primarily because of the movie Inception. I actually had visited (according to my browser's history) once before, I think when I was talking to a friend in the Seattle area about it a couple years ago (Nate True, creator of Tap Tap Revolution). But it was the movie that got me surfing till late in the night, and this community and your stories catalyzed my interest enough to start reading two great books about it and to start practicing. Last night was my first, woohoo! (put it in the dream journal). I get the concern of being flooded here, or LD being cheapened, but it sure would be inspiring for people to have LDs and to start experimenting/learning more about consciousness in general. one should defines one self-worth internally, not externally.
i am fairly new here but have been into LD for a while, and i do grow agitated at questions without any research, but i think the potential benefits far outweighs the annoyances. new LDers will come and go, most of them quickly. but there will be a few that it will stick with and better their lives.

Well what I wouldn't want is people thinking lucid dreaming is some kind of devil worship, or something that is "dangerous". You know, people who think they know what they are talking about when they just heard about lucid dreaming. Some of the things people on here say about their peers opinion on lucid dreaming is ridiculous. Especially when they are just hearing about it.
I'm not sure how I would feel about it being all mainstreamed though.
