      Not staying lucid?

I've been reading about people's attempts to lucid dream, and the people who are new to it say they are lucid for like short periods of time. anywhere from seconds to a couple minutes.

I don't understand how this is possible. In my lucid dreams i'm usually lucid like...until i wake up. I don't get how you can only be lucid for a few seconds. Maybe you're just not fully lucid? Because in my lucid dreams i'm fully conscious as if I were awake. There's no chance i'm gonna just forget i'm dreaming, because my brain is working perfectly fine.

My first lucid dream was only a few seconds, and my second one lasted only about 3 minutes.

Never quite understood that one myself.. I stay lucid until the dream is over. However, in many DILD's I got lucid at the end of the dream, thus giving me only a few minutes to mess around.

I have also experienced dreams which were of horrible quality, so much that I didn't -want- to be lucid (When I became lucid the whole world seemed to be kinda polygonal, etc). Which led to me rather just follow the dreams "story".

I am fair and square, loud and clear. Yet, you associate me with fear.

True, but many things have to be taken into consideration.

      • Where are you in the dream? (beginning, middle, end)
      • How far into your sleep cycle and/or REM cycle are you?
      • Are you giving proper stabilization and clarity to the dream?
      • Are you letting your mind fall asleep, rather then keeping it awake and alert?
      • Etc etc
