Dream Guide,Higher Self, Subconscious....what's the difference?
I mean all of them know everything there is to know about yourself and are supposed to be wise so I'm kinda confused

If you believe in this stuff there can be a difference. Your higher self, supposedly, is like a portion of your soul that has a much broader perspective than you do. Think of this reality as a dream (including waking life); your higher self is the part of you who is still "awake" by comparison, looking down upon its dreaming self and offering guidance.

While the higher self would be a broader region of your own soul, your subconscious is mainly tied to this particular ego structure/personality. Just an area of your mind that is too big for your conscious self to access all at once. Like files on a computer, you can only view so many at once as the power of your conscious self is limited. However, your subconscious can act as an entity.

Dream guides could be many things, I would wager. Could be your subconscious personified, could be another soul/entity which you invite into your dream to help you work through things.

I'll try and explain the higher self a little better, but it is fairly divorced from our normal conception of reality so it will be difficult.

Again, I'll use a computer analogy for the sake of familiarity. Picture your soul as your desktop. It has an infinite number of potential experiences to choose from, Ie: "programs" to run. One of them is being a human on planet earth. So it decides to run "planet earth 1.5" or whatever. Within this experience it creates a personality: your ego and your body. So it would be like running a game and creating a character to experience a virtual world.

Now what happens in this realm is that these virtual characters get lost. Say you ran a game, and became so absorbed that you forgot who you were and actually began to think that you were one of the characters. Now the whole scenario, the whole program, the whole dream is still you, and on one level you know this - but you've gotten lost inside yourself.

Your higher self is the part of you who is still at the desktop, trying to communicate with the character in the game who has gotten lost. It knows you have no clue WTF is going on, and are in a type of dream, but it will send guidance and communication down to aid you in whatever way it can. It does this all the time you just are unaware of it, often choosing to ignore it.

Please don't take the computer metaphor literally. I'm not saying your soul is a computer. I'm saying it is consciousness. Right now you are in a type of dream, your higher self knows this and will help you through this dream by sending down aid in a variety of manners. The one people are most familiar with is the strong voice in your head that urges you towards certain decisions.

I bet lucid dreams would be a great place to try and get some guidance if you need it.

Whatever method intuitively feels the best will work for you.

Your higher self may not show itself as an actual character (though it could take that form.) It will give you guidance through intuition and your environment. So instead of asking it to show itself, maybe ask for something specific. I would like some help with ________, I'm trying to figure _________ out, can you send me some guidance? The dream may organize into an answer without actually showing a character. This actually happens in your waking life too. Ever had something important on your mind, and then you see or hear something in your environment that applies directly to what you were thinking about, often helping you in some way? Often I will have something on my mind and then come on the computer and someone has made a forum post about it.

Don't be discouraged if it doesn't happen instantly, either. In your lucid dreams continually pose the question, and the answer may come to you over a matter of weeks. This can be done in waking life as well.

If you're interested in more information on the "higher self" or similar introspection, I'd recommend checking out the "Deep Dreaming" forum. You have to request to join, but you'll likely find more people with whom to discuss this.
