      Stong urges while Lucid.

Whenever I attain lucidity I usually just rush off to some random thing, instead of thinking about what I actually want to do. Is this just a problem I have or does anybody else have them?

I've had lucids for a year and in dreams you need to train to be able to use your logical, non-instinctive mind, so it's normal for a while

At first i think its more of a disaplin thing, Also you might be worried that your going to loose lucidity so your just going to do something random

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

      Nah, it's okay.

Every time I go lucid the first thing I do is rush off and try to have sex as much as possible. It was only in my last dream I managed to do something BESIDES sex while lucid (Fighting dragons.)

In my first big lucid dream (that was like 2 years ago, but I still remember it very vividly today), after I managed to stabilize it, I took a little bit of time to think about what to do, but most of it was actually random. I flew around a bit and ran alongside cars on the highway, trying to keep up with them. I made a carnival appear in the downtown area of the city I was in. I walked on water, fell INTO the water, crawled back out and ran to the other side. Then I took a moment to look around and realize how damn realistic everything was. Then I explored the carnival I created earlier and I had a great time. That was basically just "testing my powers."

In most lucid dreams since that (though not all of them) I had a tendency to stick to the theme of the dream. If I became lucid while I was flying, I'd just keep on flying (only more in control and aware of the dream etc). WILD's are usually the exception for me. I haven't had too many (like 6 or 7), but they usually start off in my bedroom. I do an RC, jump through my window and land in the backyard. From there I do whatever I feel like.

But most of the time, I tend to just do random things and not think about it too much. It's something that requires some practice. Resolve, before you go to sleep that when you become lucid that night, you're gonna STOP! (hammertime) and take a little time to think of something new or interesting to do. Don't stay inactive for too long, though. This may destabilize the dream. You could also consider thinking of something to do while lucid BEFORE going to sleep. I remember once on the LD4all forum there was this Quest to swim with dolphins, so when I became lucid in a dream that month I remembered that quest and I swam with dolphins in the Hudson River in New York City.

      Long story short:
      - When you become lucid, take a moment to actively think of something. Just stop doing whatever you're doing.
      - Or plan something in advance. You can repeat the same thing for however long you like if you don't become lucid on the night of your choosing.

It takes some practice and I'm relearning this myself right now. Good luck!
