why not thinking about LDing makes you lucid???

I have experienced this and I know many people also have but I want to know why. Why is it when you go a day or two not thinking about lucid dreaming you then have your first lucid dream? I know for some people its because they stress out over it but im not sure why for me and some of the others I have talked to, because I dont stress about it I just enjoy reading about it and learning as much as I can???

Even when you aren't consciously thinking of something, your unconscious mind is still working away at it in the background. For many things, the unconscious mind is better at figuring things out. Have you ever banged your head against the wall trying to remember something until you give up, then the answer easily pops into your head the next morning in the shower? That's the unconscious mind working silently in the background.

Even if you don't feel stressed, too much conscious thinking can create high expectations for yourself. This leads to over-thinking things and also self-doubt. Sometimes you just need to relax, get your mind off it, let your intuition take the lead and go with the flow.

So taking a mental break can be a good thing. Give your unconscious mind time to process the information and make the connections. It's a bit like weightlifting. Your body doesn't build muscle while lifting; it's afterward during sleep that the body builds up the muscles.

Though I must say I'm pretty bad at this lately and I should take my own advice.

I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.
