Thread: playing video games and dreaming

I was thinking that playing a video game is like dreaming. I just woke up from a dream about playing some battle game, which
I played all night. They're basically from the same point of view; you are you but your not the real you. Youre in some other
world doing other-worldly things. The similarities are immense. Tonight I shall play video games before bed, or even better after
6 hours of sleep, and chant "This isnt real" "im in control of this world"

Yeah, there are a number of similarities, and both can be great fun. I've played video games in dreams a few times too - pretty strange! Learning to think of game control as an metaphorical experience of dream control might work as a RC. Worth a shot.

I often have dreams about strategy games like Civilization during slow wave sleep. In fact, playing games like these affect your mind in a way very similar to deep sleep dreams, I think.

Yes, I agree I quite often put myself in the place of video game characters it's quite a lot of fun

Oh, yeah! I love doing that, especially when I can adjust the difficulty of the VG in it! When I was little, I used to dream about being Mario in Super Mario Bros. (Original NES). Now, I just like to play VGs in my dreams & eat, pretty much, b/c in dreams, you can make those easy games into impossible to beat games, & I find that fun!

super mario bros owns!! I once had a none lucid that lasted ages and i was link in zelda ocarina of time that game also rocks (well it was made by ninty!)

Yeah! And so does Sonic. I once played Sonic w/my niece in a shared dream, & that was so fun! Also, I like making OOT harder in my LDs, b/c it is just too easy to beat right now!!

i used to have craploads of dreams where i was in video games and stuff like that.

Usually the result of playing too much super smash bros, and Halo 2.

cs i used to a lot but i always would get scared of getting shot and freak out in the moment and close my eyes get shot and wake up then go right back to sleep. lately i have had some of indiana jones and halo 8)
