Hi Ho! First Post, First Question

      Hi Everybody,

after hanging around here for a while and getting more and more addicted to this great forum,
itīs time for my first post!
Since Iīve heard about LD, Iīm totally sticky to it.
What an amazing thing to do with your sleeping time!!
Iīve had a few LDīs since Iīve started to train my dream-recall. All of them where induced by the WILD technique or a modification of it.
I set my alarmclock to ring 6 hours after I went to bed. Stand up, read something about lucid dreaming and after 40 min I went back to bed.
From here I used the WILD technique. Iīm glad that this technique works fine for me. This morning Iīve had 2 LDīs. Both of them where very vivid and clear for the first time.
But the problem is always the same for me. After a short time I loose the dream (2-5 min). And I canīt do a sh**, because suddenly everythings becomes black and I wake up. There is no time to spin or to focus on the ground or something.
Maby itīs all about the training!!!
      I will stick to it!
But I would appreciate your comments and tipps.

      Thatīs it...Iīm out!!

      Grasshoppa,

you seem familiar with some of the techniques used to lengthen one's time in Dreaming ( I think rapid breathing the best ), but still such procedures can only be finite. Dreaming is part of the sleep cycle, and so it cycles in and it cycles back out.

so one of the things you will have to get used to is the time constraint you will need to deal with. I hear the Out of Body Travelers experience about the same limitations.

But, you know, there is quantity and there is Quality. The Best Dreams do not have to go on and on forever.

Then we need to see dreams as Works from a Creative Intelligence... and they do take Work. something somewhere is putting effort into the creation of these dream Stories. Only so much Material can be generated in so much time. I remember in LaBarges famous book on Lucid Dreaming -- he was pushing pushing and pushing for longer dream durations and suddenly he noticed his Dream Scenes breaking down into Cartoonish and Simplistic Animation -- he had simply pumped the well dry -- the Dream Studios of his Higher Mind had simply run out of Material, and just started strewing out easy garbage.

I once had a dream in which an Image of my own personal Dream Studio was shown to me. It was like an old News Room from an old Black and White Movie -- a bunch of guys wearing fedora hats, smoking cigerettes, with their feet up on the desks. yeah, sometimes it looks like not everyone is working to full capacity... but isn't that okay. We don't like it when somebody works us day and night to a frazzle. So why should we we think that those Elements of our Psyche that form our own personal Dream Studio would enjoy being whipped into a frenzy of production.

Hey, it sure is fun to gallop, but we don't want to kill the horse either.

Have you heard about false awakenings? Those are very annoying and it seems that most people have them. You should start doubting your every awakening and you will be surprised at how real a false awakening can be... You may even go out and have breakfast and not even know you're still dreaming! Try doing some things you can't do in real life, what works for me is either trying to jump up real high or lift an object just by loking at it, without touching it.

I totally argee! But right now Iīm a beginner and I want to experience my possibilities.
And therefore it would be fine if I could stay a little longer in my LDīs!
And after I learnd how it works for me I like to do more meaningful things in my dreams...

I remember in LaBarges famous book on Lucid Dreaming...
Iīve read that book called \"Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming\". LaBerge really got me into this! Greate book.

Yeah Iīve had this ones. I was quite funny for me!
This morning I thought I failed to induce a LD. But after I tried to read my digital clock and totally failed I was sure that this must be a dream.

Hey lift an object just by looking at it sounds funny. Try this one next time!
      Thx for the reply!
