      LD Dedication - Help Needed

I am frustrated because for the half of a year that I have known that lucid dreaming exists, i keep having periods where i get really excited about it. For a few nights its the only thing on my mind and during the day it pops into my head only 3 or 4 times daily. Then I don't have an LD, new video games come out, I have new school projects, new TV shows that I want to watch, or somthing else stupid like that. I stop thinking aobut it and when i do think about it I kinda brush it off. Then it just randomly pops into my head sometimes and it sounds like a great idea all of a sudden; especially now becuase after reading a book called Eragaon (which i recomend to anyone that likes fantasy like Lord of the Rings) makes me think of all this stuff I desperately need to do, like ride a Dragon that I can communite mentally with over a lush forest. Then I start caring again and try, but then the cycle repeats itself.

Anyone have any idea on a way to make me more dedicated?

      Thanks.

Also, everyone should go onto I-Tunes and download stuff by Alan Watts. He has 2 Books on Tape to download that are really sweet.

You can let routine come to your rescue. The first official Guru I ever had taught this one thing about acquiring Will Power... he taught that time invested was worth Will Power (it was actually advice about quitting cigerettes -- that time spent smoking in the past would need to be countered by time deliberately spent resisting smoking later). You see, we do not do most things out of any intense motivation and desire, but mostly from sheer habit and accumulated practice. If we force ourselves into a routine, in time it will become normalized and part of our daily momentum.

You can have a very intensified routine, that is, a series of actions you will accomplish on a strict schedule. You should get a watch that has a countdown and repeat timer -- athletic watches have such features. I would recommend that you make up some Lucid Dream Mantra that you will repeat three times every 20 minutes of the day. When I first started Dream Work, years ago, Lucid Dreaming was not yet the big deal it is today and people used to get by with such mantras as "I will remember my Dreams". But with the emphasis on Lucid Dreams you would probably be wise to briefly go over your Lucid Dream Checklist, every 20 minutes all day.

Lucid Dreams can be rare, and so it is very frustrating when you finally have one and you forget what you wanted to do with it... getting excited and not really doing anything but stand their in befuddled wonder. So it only makes sense to indoctrinate yourself concerning you Lucid Dream Checklist. Keep it simple. For years mine was "Stop, Focus, Lotus, AUM" (San Francisco Los Angelas). When I realize I am Lucid I would first STOP whatever dream activity I am in... just walk out of whatever room I am in, or whatever. Then I would FOCUS on the whatever it is that helps sustain Lucid Dreams. The old standby was to look at my hands, but that grew into beginning to breath quicker and deeper. Next I would levitate up into the air and assume the LOTUS position, the most efficient position for Dream Flying. Then I would intone an AUM as the most energizing and Holy Mantra I have yet found. If you should wish to accomplish any particular Dream Task, just include it in your Lucid Dream Checklist, which you will recite over 3 times every 20 minutes, every day.

Then you can also have a special morning ritual and special evening ritual. Some people meditate. I know that you are supposed to clear your mind when you meditate, but typically most people sit there and think about what they don't want to think about. So both morning and night when you are 'Meditating' think about not thinking about all your issues with Dreams and Lucid Dreams.

Remember, that as difficult as it is to establish a routine, it becomes that difficult to interrupt it later on as it becomes habitual and a integral part of your life. Though I have noticed that established routines become almost a part of my locale, and that whenever I relocate to a new city, I suddenly have to take some deliberate steps to re-establish a Routine or I would be wondering around lost. So routine has alot to do with putting down roots.

Another thing you might try is using self-hypnotic dream induction tapes. Make a list of positive epigrams of advise and record them, and then, whenever you take a nap or relax, play it in the background.
