      Question about not being aware

Why is it that when most people dream they don't see the extraodinary illogic in their dreams? Not having experienced LD yet, I am very surprised. Especially since I have a very logical brain.

I have been having dreams and remebering them for the longest time, I don't undertand why I can't tell that flying, people suddenly changing while I am with them, things like dragons, mutated animals, or changing places are illogical.

If anyone of those thing would happen in real life I would probably drop dead. Yet I accept those things in a dreams as if they were an every day thing.

Is the logic turned off? Is it simply that I have grown accustomed to two lives since my birth, one real and the other dream? I mean I have accepted living in the real world day by day without any questions. Could living the dream life day by day have made it acceptable too?

Should I be asking questions about how illogical my real life is compared with my dream life? Maybe I would have had my dreams been longer and my real life had been mintues long.

      What's going on here?

I don't know what it is, but everybody has that. I'll find the website that talks about that.

I am under the impression that there is no such thing as "illogic" (unreason, ill-logic, etc.) Things only appear that way in dreams because they are beyond our ability to fully or consciously understand. In other words, there is always reason and logic behind everything, but because of the limitations of our human KNOWLEDGE, we cannot explain or comprehend certain things (yet). The id (subconscious mind) is extremely powerful, complex, and creative, but there are an infinite number of things that we have yet to discover which no human language can describe. I would not worry or get overly anxious about things that appear to be illogical or what they mean... The more "illogical" or "complex" the dream is, the more likely I am to become lucid because I am, by nature, a very analytical person (yet also very right-brained), ...so the things that do not seem to make sense to me serve as dream signs, proving to me that I am in the dreamworld and thus able to at least influence the direction my dreams. I don't know if that helps at all. How able are you to control your dreams? Are you fully lucid, or do you just have good recall?

Yep its a normal thing, once I realise I am dreaming I usualy feell like a retard that I didnt realise it earlier, and even in some dreams I think its reality, even though I figured outhow to fly.. .I just think... well its about time.. Then again one of my favorite sayings is Impossible is that which has yet to be imagined... hehe I think it makes it a little more difficult for me to realise I am dreaming.

ummm is it really that its illogical just because in our waking world these things do not happen? What if the planes were reversed or flipped somehow, and the abscured things we see in our dreams were part of everyday life, and our dreams would be exactly how our waking world is currently. I guess we would think since things were so normal in our dreams that it would be illogical also. I always believe its only an illogical assumption because we are not used to these events, but it doesn't mean that it can't be normal (somewhere) and that normal somewhere probably would think our lives our illogical. something to think about.....

verah verah true =) and the longer you are in tune with your dreams the more common place they become, that might be why I take them as reality and normal... because to me, they are =)

Well yeah, some people would describe the world of dreaming as a whole separate reality, and that things that happen there, that in this reality would make us piss our pants, or just laugh, are normal...just for instance, killing our best friends, flying, and different things like that.

its crazy, but great to explore, it just depends on 'how far down the rabbit hole you go'

That's what makes it so hard.
If a pink elephant walked through the door right now, you'd probably scream or something like that.
If a pink elephant walked through the door in a dream, you are more likely to accept it as normal, perhaps not even care.[/b]

How able are you to control your dreams? Are you fully lucid, or do you just have good recall?[/b]
I am only able to recall my dreams. Before learning about LD I was able to recall my dreams from time to time. I used to be very interested in their meaning because lots of them came true. Now, I recall a dream everytime I sleep, be it a full night sleep or a nap.

I have been lucid twice through my life, once when I was in secondary school the other after I read about LD. The second time was confusing. I am not even sure how lucid I was. I am now trying to get lucid and hopefully take control of my dreams.

I don't know if that helps at all[/b]
This might help in accepting the dream as it comes, but does not explain why I already do accept things in a dream that I would normally completely reject otherwise.

I know exactly what your referring to. Like Serinanth, I often find myself wondering why I didn't realize I was dreaming since I can remember the dream so vividly...
On SOME level during these kinds of dreams, I think we DO "know" we are dreaming, but not quite enough to reach the point of lucidity I guess. Anyway, writing down the dreams seems to help me, or you can try developing certain dream tests (if you're able to) while you're dreaming in order to help you focus your thoughts for clarity. Some may just be unable to actively become lucid...

Sometimes you get stuck in some interesting situations.
Last night, between 4 and 5, I was attempting to WILD. I fell asleep and had non-lucid dreams in which I was trying to WILD...

Yeah I've had dreams where I was in a completely different time, like a pirate or something. I don't know the first thing about ships...But hell, I can sail huge ships one handed in my dreams.
Hope is the denial of reality.
