      Experinced Lucid Dreamers Question!

What is the frequency of your lucid dreams?

How long has it taken to get to a point where you can know that you will induce a lucid dream on demand.

I'm actually looking for those who weren't lucid dreamers since child hood. I would like to talk to someone who has trained their mind to become lucid over time.

I hope there someone in this forum who wouldn't mind spending some time talking with me.

      thanks

Well, that one is hard to answer, cause I have been LD'ing off and on since I was a kid...BUT after I'd stopped practicing, and picked it up again when I was like 15, I was able to train my mind to have them every other night (LD one night, no LD the next) But then, I've stopped practicing since then, and just rekindled my interest, so I'm scraping myself out of a dry spell.

I began lucid dreaming when I was 30. They were spontaneous, maybe one every month or so. About 4 years ago, I learned that there were techniques one could use in order to increase the occurance or to induce lucid dreams.

During the best of times, I have about three a week. During my bad times, maybe one every two weeks.

I have to fight for almost every lucid dream I have, I am by no means a natural. So, I guess the answer you are looking for is Yes, it can be learned.

If I can do it with my almost total lack of natural ability, anyone can
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

I often wonder whether dreaming, especially Lucid Dreaming, can be done in isolation to the other things of Life. It so often seems that Lucid Dreaming depends upon fluctuations of some almost tangible form of Psychic Energy – you can perceptibly feel Dreams rising or falling in their intensity – so the inference becomes that whatever you can do to build up this energy, will help with Dreaming.

So, meditation or Yoga might help.

I also believe that Dreams, from the Dreams end of things, are purpose driven. Some believe they are just arbitrary nerve gaps firing away, or some wonderful playground in the Mind. But over the years I have come to believe that Dreams are the Ways along the Spiritual Path. During the more intense phases of one’s Spiritual Career, Dreams will be more frequent, intense and active. But the Spiritual Mountain has its tiers and plateaus, and often the climb evens out, and dreams become less dramatic for a time.

So, anyway, it would be my intuition that if one is serious about Dreaming, that one should become serious about Spirituality. I myself am a Catholic, but only after I had become conversant with Spirituality through acquaintance with the Sanskrit Yogic Traditions. The Catholics have fine Traditions too, but they are kept locked away in their Religious Orders and many things kept on the hush-hush since they would embarrass the doctrines of the Bishops. So I would recommend some familiarity with Sanskrit Philosophy and Yoga Practices. A very entertaining book on the subject would be “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Yogananda. It’s a classic. It refers in places to this method called Kriya Yoga, but many other forms of Yoga are similar enough where you need not worry that you are missing anything by not being able to find a local Kriya Yoga Master.

But once you walk through the door of spirituality, you won’t have much problems finding the next book, or some nice support groups somewhere. You may be wondering what will keep you from getting involved with Crazies. Well, you are going into it with the Splendid Tool of Dreaming already at least somewhat available to you, and it will only get stronger as you learn to rely upon it. Your Dreams will tell you if you are in the wrong places at the wrong times. Your biggest Problem may be not listening to your dreams. You might meet some wonderful people in some Organization that has wonderful credentials, but then when your Dreams tell you in so many symbols that it is time to go, you might be too emotionally invested and fall back on the ‘it was only a dream’ rationalization for ignoring it. But treat different Organizations as Stages or Mile Stones along the Way. There are few Organizations that can take you all the way from Beginning to End. Besides, its better to enjoy the whole Spiritual Banquet than to get stuck on one dish. The reason I myself know so much about various things was because I quite flitted about from thing to thing and I’m now quite glad I did.

So, Dreaming may not be enough in itself. Look into other things that may well support it.
