      Dreaming that you're lucid dreaming?

I haven't been on these forums in awhile, but something happened last night that was so strange that I had to ask about it.

I had a dream last night where I thought I became lucid. I said to myself "hey! I dreaming right now!" and was thinking that it was a lucid dream so I tried to stabilize it and everything like the tutorials say, but it only lasted a few seconds. But now that I'm awake and can look back on it, it didn't feel anything like I expected. As I understand, a lucid dream is supposed to feel like real life, but this seems like just any other dream and it seemed like it was just a movie clip playing in my head. I can't distinguish the way I felt during those few seconds from any other moment of the dream.

Something simmilar happened awhile back as well. I had a dream where I said to myself that I was dreaming, but the dream just continued as normal.

Has this happened to anyone else?

The vividness and control of lucid dreaming varies massively. Some people can have full control and everything will look just as clear as real life, but for some people everything will be blurry, skip through time at odd points etc. but it is still a lucid dream. So if you did realise you were dreaming, it was a lucid dream, just not a very vivid one. But hey, at least you had a lucid dream

Yes. I've had a dream within a dream twice, and both lucid. I count them as lucid to be honest, lol.
      Strange things...

      Well that's weird :\

I was hoping my first lucid dream would be a bit more significant, but I guess this'll do

My first lucid dream was very similiar. You just need to learn how to control it and enhance it. It will be a much more satisfying achievement if you had to work for it, plus it would be boring if everyone could do it so naturally

Sometimes you have a dream were you say and think your dreaming. But your still not lucid. It's like the dream is about you being lucid... But your not lucid. you don't actualy KNOW your dreaming, make sense? Lol

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

      Actually, that's pretty common.

The reason you think that is, you probably went straight back to sleep after you had it didn't you? Therefore, your next dream classifies that experience as just an "odd" experience.

Do you remember waking up and saying "wow, that was a sweet dream?"

I've had similar experiences, but I knew I was lucid because I stayed up for around 20minutes wondering what the hell just happened, and fell back asleep. If this is your first lucid, congratulations! But, the next time you have one try not to fall asleep. The reason my lucids are all realistic is probably because I stay up for a long time before falling back to sleep, just thinking about it. Sometimes I don't even go back to sleep because the experience left me with such a deep sense of satisfaction.

      Hope this helps!

I don't remember waking up right after the dream. I only remembered it about thirty minutes after waking up this morning. The few seconds where I might have been lucid were really blurry. I remember thinking to myself that I was lucid and looked at my hands which had twice as many fingers.

I actually think it might have been a lucid dream now and not a dream of one as dakotahnok described because during the dream I focused on my hands and tried to make them look normal and succeeded a little, but that's where my memory of that dream stops and the next one begins.

Although I have had a few dreams where I've imagined how cool it would be to be dreaming Oh, how cruel our mind is
