      Lucid Dreaming Tips

So I've had times, only two times before but times, when I lucid dreamt. There was this one time when I was little and I always had nightmares. I asked my mother (this is when I was little) how to make them leave. I followed her advice in my dream, so at least I had some awareness of my dream. Now that I know about lucid dreams, I was able to once acheive it. It was cool, but I realized that I wasn't completely lucid, and I can't have a lucid dream again.
Tonight I'm going to dry some techniques, but do any of you have any that I could use?

      Don't rush into it.
I haven't got anywhere since when I started, mainly because I've been so focused on having a lucid that even if I have I don't remember it.

In other words, start with dream recall.

Lucid dreaming takes time to get into if you're not used to it. The most common way to get into a lucid dream is through reality checks; This is the simplest way to get them randomly on top of the times you actually do a certain technique to get them on a particular night (Results may vary, of course). The basic idea is, on top of the other techniques, to perform reality checks during the day to increase the chances you'll do one during your dreams. Of course, doing them randomly probably won't get you anywhere. Heres a short rundown:

      1) Keep a dream journal and record as many dreams as you can
      2) Using your journal, look for and find common themes among your dreams and find signs you can use in your waking life to perform reality checks
      3) Do reality checks every time you see one of your dream signs throughout the day (Try to make it a habit). Doing this will make it more likely you'll do it during one of your dreams and become lucid
      4) Keep a structured sleep schedule and get as much sleep as you can - This is very important for some techniques that require you to wake up before certrain REM periods, but I won't talk about it here since I'm not familiar with them myself.

As for actual techniques and how to perform them, look here.
