Thread: Lucid, but not really aware?

Has anyone else had this problem before?

I'm not quite sure how to explain it.
For my past "lucid" dreams, I am able to control my actions, (flying, walking around, etc.), but it seems that I am not really not aware about the fact that I am actually dreaming. Whenever I wake up from these dreams, I would end up in another dream, but I would not be aware of it. For example, last night, I was with a couple of other lucid dreamers in my dream, and we walked around, and I even met with somebody I actually knew, but not once did I question the fact that they are dream characters, and that what was around me was actually dream scene, what followed was that I woke up and talked to that person, not a single hint of lucidity this time. Is this state still really "lucid" though?... What do you guys think? I have control, but not aware, what can I do? :/

Yes, this happens quite often for me. What is going on is that you're quite aware that you have "control" over your dream but don't actually realize you are dreaming, you except it for reality still. The BEST way to solve this problem is to perform a reality check. This gives you full lucidity and makes you aware that you are indeed dreaming...whenever I don't do a reality check but become "lucid" and know I now have control of the dream, I never fully understand that it's a dream or have total control unless I convince myself otherwise with the RC. It's quite annoying when you just get excited and forget to RC and then end up in this weird situation. -Chase

P.S. There is another form of this where say, something is chasing you and you know that by leaping up into the air you can get away but you don't know that you are dreaming nor are you lucid so to speak. I've actually been trying to figure out a solution to solve this issue but can't seem to find a solid cure as of yet.

Thank you! I could never remember to do RC's when I'm awake, but still, I'll try. And do you think these dreams are still considered "lucid"?

They are lucid dreams but sometimes you lose lucidity so it goes back into a normal dream. Remember, you can be "lucid" but have no control at all. The act of a lucid dream is being aware that you are dreaming, having "lucidity" is having control over it if that makes any sense. -Chase

A similar thing happens to me sometimes. Something will happen in a dream that I don't like, and I'll be like "Eeeh, I don't really like the way that happened." And I'll rewind and do it again. Sometimes I'll re-do a certain part of a dream 3 or 4 times before I'm happy with it.

There was one time where I re-did a whole dream. I was a jewelry thief, for some reason, and kept getting caught. It was a variation on the dream where you are being chased, but I was always re-do, or try different ways of escaping when it looked like I was going to be caught. Eventually I got really frustrated and started the whole thing over from the beginning. Never did get away, though.

This usually happens after I've woken up in the middle of a dream, usually quite late in the morning, but don't want a dream to end, so I just go back to sleep and hop right into it again. That's when I really get the most control over them. I only just really got into lucid dreaming a couple days ago, so this is all before every really knowing about it. I thought it was funny learning about WILD, because that's basically what I would do without thinking about it. I always somewhere in the back of my head knew that it was a dream, (especially since it's the same dream I just woke up from, so I've already identified it as a dream) but never really made it a conscious thought. Now that I know to watch out for that, maybe I can make these semi-lucid dreams completely lucid. I'll have to wait for some time when this happens on a morning I don't have somewhere to be and can go back to sleep.

Wow, I had that same exact dream last night. I dreamt that I WILDed about three times and met up with a guy and a girl in each lucid dream, and I think we all knew we were lucid. I believe the guy and girl knew each other in my dream. However, I wasn't aware enough to really understand that I was dreaming. I honestly believed that I had become lucid in about 5 dreams that night in my first-level dream.

What I propose is that you should try to become more aware when you're awake. This should make you more aware in your dreams.
