This can be a problem for a lot of people. I try taking my mind off of it. Try repeating a mantra like "I am dreaming" when the vibrations hit. I did that last night and had a WILD.

I found the first 3 attempts that reached the "scary" stages of doing a WILD made me freak out. After a while though I got so used to it, it was like waiting for a bus. I even remember saying to myself "how will I ever get used to this?" but you do, I wouldn't worry about it just keep practicing!

It was pretty funny to me; I tried to WILD for weeks without success. Few days ago I finally reached the vibrations and fast heart beat, but I forgot about repeating the mantra. Fuuu.

I felt unable to keep calm when I first ventured into the WILD technique.
However, you must remember that WILD is just the same as falling asleep. The very thing you do every night.
Just relax and get comfortable like you would when you sleep. Then just allow your body to fall asleep. Keep your thoughts inward.

Hope it works out for you!

Here are two things a lot of people seem to get into trouble with:

      1. Don't swallow: I've found that it hurts you more to lay there thinking "MUST... NOT.... SWALLOW" than it does to just do it naturally. Don't devote any thought to it, just let it happen and maintain your concentration.

      2. Doing it at the beginning of the night just makes things take a lot longer. About 5-6 hours after you first go to bed works well since you're more likely to fall asleep faster and go directly into REM.
