Thread: A Code of Chivalrie?

I want to know if anyone has a code of morals that they use specifically while dreaming, or which of their waking morals they choose to bring with them during lucid dreams.

For instance, there was a time in my life several years ago where I had a recurring situation from dream to dream. That is, whenever my mother or my sister left my presence, I learned sometime later that something terrible had happened that killed them. So for the duration of this time period, I made sure that I looked out for them and never let them out of my sight.

I also make sure to treat DCs with the same respect I would show for the real persons. And if I ever mistreat someone within my dream, I appologize the next night or to the real person. This may seem strange, but the mental energy assossiated with wrongdoing is, according to my philosophy, equal to the actual act while awake. I also figure that it is easier to practice compassion while awake if one practices it thoroughly and consistantly during dreams.

Furthermore, I always make certain that if I am nude in one of my dreams, that I am not ashamed of it. It is, symbollically speaking, the clear state, a state of no masks or barriers by which to hide oneself. Thus I think it healthy to appreciate dream-nudity as an important message in its own right, unclouded by the shame that would accompany it in the real world.

Sounds like you and I are of the same mind.

I bring all of my morals with me into my lucid dreaming.
In my waking life, I will in no way harm anyone or intentionally be cruel to any living thing. It is the same way in my lucid reality.

Reality is Reality. In my opinion, the lucid reality has no less validity than the waking reality and therefore morals apply.

I agree with both of you. Since you are in conscious control of your actions when you are lucid, to me there is no difference between choosing to hurt someone in a dream and choosing to hurt someone in reality. There are numerous threads about morality in dreams here at DV but I pretty much stick to the same thing.
