Those were FA's (False Awakening). Basically your mind tricks you into believing you woke up for real. FA is a good way to become lucid if you can catch it. Everytime you wake up, perform a reality check, and you will know you are dreaming. Sounded like you had a long run of lucidity, you could have had some fun instead of trying to get out, but I can understand you if you were scared etc. |

Lucid Goals:
Fly [X] - Nuke something with a Falcon Punch [ ] - Stay lucid for longer than 20 minutes [X] - Lucid Sex [X] - Step through a Stargate and enter a new world [ ] - Save a crashing airliner [ ] - Travel in time with the DeLorean [ ] - Go to Narnia [ ] - Go to Middle-earth [ ] - Pokémon Battle [ ]
This is a treasure trove of lucidity, if you had known what was happening. Performing Reality Checks when you wake up is an excellent way to combat False Awakenings like you experienced. Next time, after you realize you are dreaming, instead of trying to get out (its impossible to be trapped in a dream indefinitely, not inception lol) have some fun. |

Lucid Dream goals: (O=done, could be better. X=done.)» (Fly -X)» (Talk to my DC friend - ) (Have a WILD - ) (Have sex - ) (Meet my DG - ) (Go through a wall or window -X) (Go to space - ) (Go to Pandora - ) (Conjure things -O ) (Complete a task of the month - )
I've had the exact same experience. It is quite disconcerting... My dream guide helped pull me out of it, if I remember right. But reality checks after waking really help. But it seems you already knew it was a dream for the most part... Past that, I'm not really sure what to tell you. I've had the experience once only, and it scared the hell out of me. I did notice that I could tell a FA because I actually got out of bed when I woke up, though. Didn't help me too much, being lucid. |

I haven't experienced false awakenings before, but an easy way to combat them, like others have said, would be to perform a reality check the instant you 'wake up', every single time. Good luck. |
