      Lucid nightmares

i had my first LD 2 days ago, during an afternoon nap, and i'm really excited to try it again, but i'm worried about having a lucid nightmare that i'll potentially be stuck in for a long time, anyone have any advice? cheers.

There are ways to turn nightmares into more pleasant dreams, but this involves quite a bit of dream control.
However, if the nightmare is getting really bad, you can always try to force yourself to wake up.

Here's what I do to wake myself up.
When you realize you're having a nightmare, bite your tongue (not too hard, you don't want to bite it off) and blink your eyes.
This probably sounds strange, but this has always worked for me right from the first try. The downside to this is that you will wake up and lose some sleep.

Come to think of it, those were a lot of times I missed having a lucid dream...

oh dont even worry ! When I had nightmares and I realized that I was lucid, I followed instructions i'd learned here, which is to...... stop running or doing whatever your doing and face your fear calmly. if something is chasing you you just wait to see nothing will happen, cause you are dreaming. You could even picture yourself fighting the object you should win.. The first time will be the hardest, it will get easier.. if you want to wake up, try closing ur eyes.......
