Hi there! Welcome to Dream Views!
First off, there is no need to fear your dreams, especially once you become lucid.
On the subject of dying in dreams, it is not necessarily true that if you die in a dream that you will automatically wake up. It is possible to stay in the dream after death and then 'respawn' after a short time. Also, once you become lucid, it's probably not the best idea to try and wake yourself up by trying to kill your dream self. Next time, just try willing it, or saying your desire out loud, or maybe slap yourself in the face? Can't say I've ever tried to wake myself from a lucid dream before, so I'm probably not much help there.
I can definately see how the False Awakenings could scare you a bit, but it is still a perfectly ordinary occurance, so just remember that whenever you have them.
Just remember that once you are lucid, then you have control over your dream, and that you can come to no harm. Do not be afraid of them, just have fun!
Good luck with your future LDs!
