      Dreaming in 3rd person?

The very little dreams i remember....
(i'm working on recall... few months ago i was really good with my journal...and recalled many dreams...now i'm too tired and lazy because of school...but not to worry... i have 7 days of school left)
Anyway...The very little dreams i remember.... are not in 1st person. But i'm not really sure... But most of them seem to be in 3rd person.

Is that bad? common? will it effect my results at having LDs?

also... as a side note... tonight i'm considering on trying my first WBTB... Hopefully all goes well.

Im not to sure on how 3rd person would effect your lucidity....

but i know that I have them sometimes and I dislike them very much...I often try and get back into my body (this all seems normal when im dreaming) and I can't....It often frustrates me.

oh and good luck on your WBTB....somtimes i do this on accident and my dremas afterwards are really vivd but I have a hard time goign Lucid...Make sure you do some reality checks...remind yourself

Well i decided not to try WBTB because of school... i kind of missed "staying up for awhile after sleep"

It's around time for finals soo... I'll have to wait until summer vacation. But I did start back on my dream recall... I remembered 3 just last night!

I have the same problem, I have to wake up at 6 am for school.

Maybe you can do what i do, try to go lucid last night. Lately Ive found if you work out like a couple hours before you sleep it was easier to WILD. This actaully happened to me last night. I worked out then went to bed. I just breathed and said I was dreaming repedialty and soon I felt my body go numb and SP. Lol, I actually liked it. Then I started to hear the common metal bowl sound, but I was stuck in this phase for about 30 minutes. I didnt WILD, , or go into a lucid dream that is...

like half my dreams are in 3rd person. There's nothing wrong with it. It just sucks ass.

I doubt that it will affect your Lucid dreaming much, but someone could argue that it does and doesn't. It all depends on the person

My dreams are often in 3rd person too. I'm trying to start recognizing this as a dreamsign, 'cause if I do, I'll probably have a lot more of LD's. Usually the 3rd person view seems normal in my dream though. But if I'm lucid, I try to get back to my body, because i dont like the 3rd person view. I want my dreams to feel like they are real.
around 10 proper LD's since joining
yeah, I'm not a natural... but starting to get a hang of it now.

      Dear Tazaron,

The Character that looks like you in your dreams may be a third person image -- all dream characters are third person images, are they not?

What you need to understand is that dream character that looks like you, is not you. In your dream you are a disembodied point of awareness. That is your First Person experience and so that is who you are. If you go Lucid, it will be Lucidity from that Point of Awareness -- your First Person Experience. That image that looks like your waking self is just a Dream Character as far as you should be concerned.

But within the context of dreams, being disembodied in a dream where one of the characters seems to be your Body Image Persona -- it shows either a Great Spiritual Detachment verging on the attainment of Nirvana, Satori, Enlightenment, or... your Consciousness is not very well integrated with your Personality. It may not so much be a Higher Renunciation of your Egoic Self, but a refusal at a much lower level to identify with your own personality.

I have a parallel motif of dreams where, although I do dream within my own Body Image Persona, my dreams seem to treat my Persona as something of a minor character amidst much more important People and Issues. But I've grown to accept myself in such support roles. The Mind can be so much greater than our mere personalities and having dreams of those greater than ourselves only shows this Transcendent Greatness of Mind.

But, anyway, your Dreams have given you an opportunity to regard your Personality as an outsider looking in. Take advantage of that perspective. Do you approve of the actions of that Persona, that character that looks and acts like yourself? What would you change? Perhaps when you can approve of that Character, you will begin to Dream from within that Character.

But being Disembodied may be quite an asset in itself. Some Out of Body Travelers would give their left eyetooth to be able to achieve at will that condition, as one can travel to so many Higher Planes when not hold down and back by the power requirements and the restrictions placed upon Body Image.
