The wierdest year of my life

I have studied dreams for years and have had the blessing of being able to lucid dream for.. Well since i can remember. Without any practice in my life i lucid dream atleast 3 times a week (when i was younger even more). Well i will begin my journey in these forums by telling you a little about this year. Ive experienced things ive only read about and i come hoping you can further explain these phenomenons. Some stories are only meant to be shared and some are meant for you guys to give give me further input.

First question. Why do afternoon naps produce the most per found, extreme, intense, sometimes amazingly scary experiences compared to night time sleep?

My first experience with sleep paralysis (of course during a nap) I wake up with the whole ten yards, i cannot move, my room is dark, and i feel as well as hear a presence walking down my hallway. I have researched dreaming and sleep paralysis waaay prior to this experience so i instantly knew what was going on (thank god). As i heard the footsteps getting closer and closer i started to feel this satanic evil aura that this identity possessed. The feeling that came over me is only experienced in the dream world or if hell exists im sure its there too. Its unexplainable. My door knob began to twist and the entity walked in. It was a dark shadow and it walked to the head of my bed. I knew what was going to and did my best to keep calm. But all the research about sleep paralysis didnt prepare me for this. The entity began to whisper in my ear. It was muffled and nothing i could understand. Almost like a horror movie. My body began to tingle and have profound effects and the next thing i know i bust out of my bed sweating and panting.

Continuous dreams: I have dreams where i wake up fully and enter right back in the same scenerio i left. Each dream consists of full in depth story lines, (without breaking or switching) Characters i recognize and become attached to, Lucidness, and experiencing it with other dreamers (i doubt it was OBE so im guessing it was just apart of my dream) I remember specifically that i wanted to wake up because it seemed like Ive been dreaming for hours so i walked up to the top of a building to jump off because that usually wakes me up. I walk to the Top of the building and there are other dreamers up there awaiting their turn to jump for the same reason as me. I awake to realize that Ive only been asleep for about 30 min ( shorter then my dream period felt like). I end up going back to sleep and having the same characters greet me, same scenario and setting, and lucidness. This will happen 4 times in one nap. Wakening up and going back to sleep in each one

Inception Effect: I often (during naps mostly of course) will wake up from a dream to realize that my wake up is also a dream. My record is 5 stages of waking up to realize my wake up was still in the dream world (in one nap session)

      and finally the most unexplained

The Jason Bourne Effect: I will wake up not knowing my own name, who i am, who i know (not even my parents), where i am. This lasts for about 30 seconds.

All of these just started occurring this year so also explanation of that would be great

We call these false awakenings. They can be annoying because they tend to make people lose lucidity, but if you have problems with this you can counter it simply by reality checking whenever you first wake up.

First question. Why do afternoon naps produce the most per found, extreme, intense, sometimes amazingly scary experiences compared to night time sleep?
During afternoon naps people often go immediately into the REM phase of sleep from the waking state. This is why many people find WILDing on a daytime nap to be highly effective.

Numerous people have reported having these kind of "serial dreams", although I have never experienced them. Sounds like a very cool and intriguing experience.

The Jason Bourne Effect: I will wake up not knowing my own name, who i am, who i know (not even my parents), where i am. This lasts for about 30 seconds.
I think this happens to most people to some extent. I can almost never immediately remember what day it is. Sometimes I am totally confused and remain in my dreamy state of mind for a minute or two.

Overall sounds like you have had some pretty interesting experiences with the dream world. Have fun with future exploration of the unique state of consciousness.

Lol.That's happened to me twice in my life.I don't know how connected it is to lucid dreaming because both times happened years before I ever started it.

Reading your sleep paralysis experience honestly scared the crap out of me. I've read alot about it. But what you shared with us there is just... Between terrifying and slightly fascinating.

I experience serial dreams frequently. In fact I had one last night, too bad it was about a family of cannibalistic murderers :S
At the fork in the road I turned left while everyone else turned right..

Yea I've had a scary sleep paralysis. I had a false awakening and got back in bed. I closed my eyes and then opened them, and the guy from jeepers creepers was crouching over me. Everytime i closed my eyes he just got closer. My fear just made him scarier and basically he was feeding off my fear. I couldnt move or scream, but I knew it was fake, but it was too scary. I eventually woke up.

Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

I've experienced sleep paralysis only once, but the weird thing was that it was almost like an OOBE, when I tried to stand up, rather than my vision remaining as it is, my vision rose up as if my body was standing up, yet I knew my body was still lying on my bed just because I could still feel my pillow, sheets, etc. When the paralysis wore off it went back to normal though.

I've never had continuous dreams though. I'd like to, as there have been dreams that I've had in the past (in which I am able to remember still, even though they were 7-10 years ago) that I would love to continue, as they had great stories, scenery, and DCs. Oh well.

As for that last bit about the Jason Borne effect, I've never had it happen to that extent, but I have woken up and had no clue as to the day, month, year, or location I was in. It lasted about 10 seconds until I was able to remember.

I remember being 8 years old and having one of those at a buffet. I was sleeping in my parent's room. I was at a buffet in a dream knowing I was dreaming. I was among adults in that dream. I made a game out of waking my self up them going back to sleep and re entering the dream. I did that a few times and got bored. SO I woke up and made cereal. To me this is evidence of being a natural lucid dreamer but not skilled enough to have good control.

That sounds like a total trip-fest. Your first scenario seemed like you were experiencing some hypnagogic imagery. This usually happens after SP seeps in. I have heard other people experiencing continuous dreams before, especially when they wake up for a period of time and go back to bed imagining themselves back in their previous dream. As far as the Jason Bourne effect... I don't know. I've gone a few seconds before, not knowing where or who I was, but a half a minute is quite a long time to experience that.
