Do you think DMT causes LD's?

I was reading up on DMT, one of the most powerful hallucinogenics in the world. This is the best video I could find, it eerily sounds like a lucid dream in a lot of the sense. DMT is apparently the chemical in our mind that causes some parts of dream or maybe all I'm not sure. So when you take it you could possible be entering the ultimate lucid dream with complete awareness. I'm not thinking of trying this and I don't recommend it from what I've heard it can seriously mess you up, and it could be permanent.

      YouTube - ‪The DMT Experience (High Quality)‬‏
This is from a documentary called "DMT: The Spirit Molecule" brought to you by Spectral Alchemy and Synthetic Pictures. The Documentary is based off of a book of the same name, written and researched by Dr. Rick Strassman.

Thoughts? Has anyone done this? Is it anything like a lucid, or far beyond? Do you have control or is it chaotic?

It's as close to a LD as you can get while awake. Very powerful, and I wouldn't ever recommend it for recreational use or anything like that. As you said, it's got the potential to mess you up pretty badly.

If you ever plan to try it, I'd strongly recommend mental preparation for like a week beforehand.

First of all, there is no evidence that DMT is responsible for dreams, it's merely speculation. Secondly, I don't think DMT is anything like lucid dreaming.

I think it is indeed the same as dreaming. I don't speak from experience but i've done a ton of reading about DMT and barely a day goes by where i don't think of these things. I've heared that the period before a succesfull WILD includes a humming noise wich also occurs just before a DMT trip.
I believe there are different levels of experiencing a DMT trip ranging from a low-level experience where you encounter entities and stuff that teach you things like in a dream but as you go deeper and deeper in you might get to the source of consiousness .
So if dmt and dreams are the same that means that ur average dream is a low level consiousness and ultimately you should be able to get to the void cus that's what you really are. I wonder if that's true and i intend to find that out. Since DMT is released in the body during pregnancy and possibly gets released again just before death evidence suggests that DMT is indeed the source of consiousness. What i'm more interested in tho is the notion that dreaming is experiencing consiousness detached from the physical world. That would mean to me that dreaming is the actual state of death. If that's true all my fears of death will disappear and i can't wait to die .

I also heard on one of those videos that DMT is two steps away from being a molecule that is almost everywhere in living species, plants, animals, humans. Maybe it's the secret to life ;p

You can extract DMT from many different plants. Most living things contain DMT, but when it comes to extracting it, it all depends on how much of it is in the plant. Canary reed grass and certain barks are commonly used to extract it. You have to smoke it. If you ingest it without first taking an MAOI, the monoamine oxidase in your stomach would just break it down before it (the DMT) ever did anything. Smoking it is the most common way that people "cross over" (getting in that dream-like state) because smoking things has a much more intense (but quicker ending) effect when it comes to anything you do. Ingesting it would mean a much longer trip but possibly not crossing over, and having to take more to experience the same effect.

If smoked it lasts, in real time, about 10 to 20 minutes. However, many people I know that have used it say that it felt as though they were crossed over for what felt like upwards of 2 weeks. You just happen to wake up and it's only 15 minutes later once it's all over.

Now to the actual subject matter of this thread. Is it the same as a lucid dream? I wouldn't put it in those words, but in the sense that you go into a trance-like state, hallucinate a world entirely in your mind, and it is very vivid and you have control of yourself, then yes. But I'm sure the experience is much different than that of any dream. Until I experience it myself (which I hope I do sometime in my life) I couldn't really say, though.

Those Dmt testamonials sound like astral projections experiences to the higher levels. & there is alot of plant life that has been claimed to induce lucid dreaming and outter body experiences. Dmt is one of them, another one is Calea zacatechichi (Aka the Dream herb link below). I havn't tried either one so i cant validate if it works for me or not. However "Natural" herbs could be a viable option for the induction of lucid dreaming and astral projection. namaste
