      A Tipple Or Two.

Does one have to be totally free of Booze to enjoy Lucid Dreaming. I know one has to have a clear mind, but one has to consider lifes other pleasures don't you think. But between the Guy in Furry Slippers and a cup of hot Chocolate and the Guy with a bottle of Jack Daniels I know who you will say who would win. C'mon you Tipplers.........Admit It. Oh and Gawd knows what other drugs.

I don't think you have to be TOTALLY booze free To enjoy Lucid Dreaming. I've had a Lucid Dream after drinking the night before, (I wasn't drunk off my ass, but I wasn't sober either.) I'm sure it varies from person to person though.

Yes. But we as Brits are a Drinking Nation. (Soccer Yobs etc etc). I am sometimes too scared to take Valerian, B6, Melatonin on top of Booze. (RID YE OF THE BOOZE........................THEN WE SHALL ALL BECOME LUCID..........AMEN).

I know that if I get really drunk, I won't remember my dreams or have a lucid dream. Sucks. But you know ... sometimes the booze speaks louder than the potential for dreams

Well I hate to say this, since I'm often horrified by the things some people recommend ingesting around here to enhance LD's (Ketamine comes to mind), but my first lucid dream since I've been actively trying to have them, happened one night after I had downed more than my share of Jose Cuervo.

I've read some research that claims alcohol can create an REM rebound effect similiar to Melatonin. I've often thought that's what happened in my case. So, in certain circumstances, it may be more of a help than a hinderance. But I doubt it helps to become intoxicated on a nightly basis.

And as a side note, a recent scientific poll showed us Yanks drink more beer per capita than any other nation on the planet. UK and Germany came in close behind.

Oh Come on. You honestly can't compare that "Swamp Water" you call Beer to the Quality European stuff. No wonder you lot don't have any problems attaining Lucidity.

"Quality" aside, if we're talking about alcohol, the average American consumes more than the average Brit.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it appears us Yanks have more tipples and lucids.

Yes but our's is so much stronger. You will give me Nightmares of becoming a "Coors" drinker. Sam Adams is nice though, but is that Canadian ??. Ok, Let's settle on "MEAD". Bet Leo has tried that.

LOL! Dreamboat, you crack me up.

Actually, funny you should mention Sam Adams, it's the only commercial beer I will drink. (Yes, I despise Coors as well). It's actually a Boston brew, close to our colonial roots.

And indeed, nothing beats a good mead.

      Cheers

I can back up the rebound thing, works a treat for me.
Nothing to do with ability to become lucid (that still well and truly sucks for me ) but I get better recall and more vividness. Recall may be due to increased vividity (< real word? )
May not be for everyone but I'd definately give it a go. Don't get fully pickled or anything. Just one or two standard drinks seems to work for me.
Comming onto a rebound I had a REALY friggin strange one last night featuring a talking cow, still didn't realise it was a dream
I've been so lazy - someone kick me.
