Is it possible to dream that you are lucid?

I may have achieved lucidity for the first time, but I really am not sure. I remember waking up around 12:30pm and trying to recall my dreams. As I was doing that, I obviously dozed off again. I remember standing in an elevator. All of a sudden I realised that I don't live in my old apartment and that I couldn't possibly be in that particular lift. I was aware that I am dreaming and I started rubbing my hands straight away. As a matter of fact I think I constantly rubbed my hands, afraid of waking up. I didn't seem to have any control over what I was doing though, and all I remember was flying. Flying through endless dream landscapes. They didn't make any sense and were pretty random, really. I remember waking up then. It was 13:20pm.

The question is, is it possible for me to dream that I am lucid simply because I have had such a great interest in inducing lucidity over the last week. I know that this may seem like a stupid question, because being lucid *is* realising you are dreaming, so if you dream that you have realised it then it's essentially the same thing, since you are dreaming anyway.
But from what I have read, lucid dreams are incredibly vivid, and the person feels as if he is awake, including tactile sensations and the ability to control what is going on. I just seemed to drift through it and it wasn't any more vivid than a normal dream. Is that all there is to it? Or maybe some people just don't dream vividly, lucid or not lucid..

I would appreciate your thoughts on this..

      Myes!

I know EXACTLY what your talking about.
And its so disappointing, Because for the longest time i thought thats what lucid dreaming was. Yes, you were dreaming that you were lucid. I know it sounds weird. But in some of my dreams. Let me rephrase that. Your sub-consious mind realised you were dreaming, therefore you remembered that you knew you were dreaming. However, Your Consious mind must realize your dreaming. That is when the Vivid dreams come from, and being able to control them.

Was it third person at all? I find that I dream in 3rd person unless i'm lucid dreaming.

Keep trying, Lucidity is just around the corner. Just dont get in the mindset that you "can't". Cause once you start thinking that. You won't.

      Hope that helps

Well, now that you mention it, I did leave out two very weird things about that dream that I can recall. "Someone" was, errm.. "commenting" on my dream as I was having it. I'm not sure if that's the right choice of words, but I will try to explain.
As I was standing in the elevator, some sort of "narrator" said that if I was dreaming then there would be no need for me to actually use the elevator. This seemed weird and this was what made me realise (or dream about realising) that I was lucid.
The second thing, which was even stranger, was the same voice "commenting" on the fact that I didn't have a clue what I was doing, as I was flying through those landscapes.
I wasn't sure what to make of it, and as I already said my dreams are usually fucked up inside out, so I didn't think anything of it. But now that I think about it, apart from the fact that I remember constantly rubbing my hands, I really do not remember being in possesion of my dream body.
It was as if it was a dream about *someone else* being lucid, rather than me, but the conclusion that I drew was that since my dreams are entirely the creative work of my brain, and nobody else's, then that must be the same thing. So when I woke up I was pretty sure that I was lucid, and that that is all there is to it.
Do you know what I mean?

In any case, thanks for clarifying that for me and perhaps even reviving some hope for my future lucidity, as I was beginning to think that lucid dreams are not all they are cracked up to be. I am looking forward to go to sleep tonight...
