      Can anyone explain this...

for the past several years I've been having these dreams that i wake up where I fell asleep, everything is the same as when I fell asleep (surroundings, time, place, position of sleep).
Only one problem I cant move. I feel like i'm on one of those rides at a carnival that spin you in cirlces so fast that the Gforces suck you up to the wall. I just get very slight movement from my head and arms. I get enough movement usually where i can grasp onto something nearbye to try and pull myself up or out of position, but I never have the strenght. I have these dreams in bed, on the couch, in a recliner, even at work I had one taking a nap in my work tuck on my break.

I would have to say the most realistic one was just recently I had fallen asleep with a walkman on and when I had awaken in my dream there was a song playing on the walkman, and when i had really awaken the same song was still playing.

Can anyone explain these dreams, why i have tem or maybe what they might mean.....if anything.

are you lucid in those dreams?

if not, you can easily use this as your recurrent dreamsign and achieve lucidity just about anytime it happens.

It never happened to me, so I cant provide first hand experience, however I've read about it in 2 books. Both of them agree that you should try to move with your mind. Not sure how it is done, but IMO it's worth trying

i need to do my homework cause im not sure what lucid means...someone told me it could be an attempt of out of body experience but I dont know.

edit- ok i looked in the tutorial and saw that lucid dreams are when i am aware that im dreaming. So to answer you question,.....sometimes i know sometimes i dont.

well, in those dreams, do you know they are dreams?
you should check www.dreamviews.com , there's a short explanation of what lucid dreaming is.

Lucid dreaming and out of body experiences are pretty much the same there's a slight conflict with some people arguing that OOBE is more "advanced".

Actually I have experienced this MANY times. It happens as a result of sleep paralysis. Many times I have been in this state where you are not awake, but you are not asleep either...it's a trancelike state and if you struggle and move about you might be able to sort of "get out of your body". Some people confuse these with OBEs, or out of body experiences, but they are fake OBEs. They are just dreams and usually happen as a result of a false awakening. I know exactly what you mean about the gforce thing. You really have to struggle to get your head and arms up...I've been able to do this several times. I have even been able to sit up a few times, and one time I even got all the way up and was able to walk to my door. Though I think I left a few body parts behind because I was walking Quasimotto style. You can learn to use this as a means to enter a lucid dream.

Ok now this dream I'm about to explain happened last night. The dream started where I had awaken in my bed next to my girlfriend who was sleeping. It was the typical cant move dream i usually have. So like normal I try moving, and its not working, I can just move my left arm a little cause im laying on my right side.

I get this feeling that I need to wake my girlfreind up, but for some reason I'm convinced that the normal tapping on the leg or light shaking wont wake her the only way to wake her is to hold onto her neck and gently shake her awake.

So as Im trying to get my hand to move, cause my arm feels like 200 lbs., I start hearing this horrific growling noise. Like something from a horror movie. It was like a demonic growl that would come from a zombie or something. So as I become frightened, Im still trying to move my arm closer. Finally I get my hand on her neck ( the growling is still there) all of a sudden I start to choke her for like 2 seconds before I realize and stop. The dream ends there cause she had woke up from me shouting and moaning like i was scaredor something.

She had told me later that day that before she went to sleep she had a wierd feeling, and everytime she closed her eyes she would have a vague picture of a wierd evilish face.

IDK what this dream means but it really wierded me out.

      Hmm...that IS really strange!

Well I don't know about the whole growling/devilish thing (you can hear all sorts of weird noises during hypnogogia) but I do know the place that you are at, and I know that I have experienced really weird things in that place as well. As long as you weren't REALLY strangling her...haha then I don't think it's anything but a strange dream.

One time I had an FA and decided I wanted to try to OBE (this is when I still thought they were actually OBEs, but they aren't) and so I fought to lift my head up (like you said, feeling like it weighed about 100 lbs) and there, leaning over my bed was a 3 foot tall jack rabbit wearing prison stripes with the scariest expression on his face I had ever seen. It freaked the hell out of me, but then I realized I was dreaming and continued to try to get out of my body...eventually I did...he never moved even once though, his eyes were fixed on where I had been laying at in my bed...so now I was like staring at him staring at where I was supposed to be. Really creepy.

But I don't think it's anything to get concerned about. I think it's just our mind playing tricks on us. I have also found that in that state you can actually force words (but it just sort of comes out as mumbles)...which is what woke your girlfriend up I'm sure.

I don't know if this is true or not but a very knowledgeable friend of mine told me that in that state you are basically in the same state as people under hypnosis and you are open to suggestions. I wanted to try this experiement with someone but I didn't really have anyone to try it with, so maybe you and your girlfriend and can try it. Next time you are in that state try to get a few words out and speak to her...if she wakes up b/c she hears you moaning she can then talk to you and even hypnotise you. Just make sure that you really trust her!! Or else she might say something like...you will buy me new things everday!!! LOL. Have her say something that will speak to your subconscious and allow you to lucid dream....like "you will be more aware of when you are dreaming, you will recognize your dream signs, you will become lucid whenever you are dreaming...etc."

Let me know how it goes.
