How to fall asleep quickly? takes me hours of in and out of SP...?

Been a while since I've been on this forum, been busy a lot lately.

The first week I started to try to go lucid I went lucid twice, both were really short and I forgot to stabilize. Went on vacation for a week.. stopped trying to get LDs but managed to get one while I was there. Came back, went lucid 2 days ago by realizing in the dream, I was like what the fuck am i doing in my neighbors car and though I must be dreaming... which is kinda wierd because that wasnt even close to the weirdest part of the dream. Stabilized by looking at my hands in detail, looked around decided what i wanted to do, when i tried to jump i jumped into blackness and woke up...shitty. By the way all I've been doing is silverbullets method, just believe you will go lucid when falling asleep, works decently for me.

Anyways I'm having a problem, lately its taking TONS of time to fall asleep. Last night it took literally 2 hours... its been like that for the past 2 weeks, It's really frustrating because i used to fall asleep inside minutes.

In those 2 hours i drift in and out of SP constantly... its wierd as soon as I go into SP i become aware of my breathing and end up coming out of it, really fucking annoying.

      any advice?

You could try an over the counter sleep-aid like Diphenhydramine (Benadryl), or Doxylamine. Both have powerful hypnotic side effects.

If you wanted to go the supplement route I highly recommend Melatonin and/or Valerian for getting to sleep faster. Both are very effective, melatonin is my favorite and it's an awesome antioxidant as well so it's very good for you regardless. If you'd prefer not to take anything, you could try the mantra method. It's sort of like, modified transcendental meditation...but you find a word and just repeat it in your head over and over again. Pretty soon the brain realizes that no new information is coming in, so it just starts to shut itself down for sleep. There are plenty of other relaxation techniques on this site that will help fall asleep more quickly, just try a search of the forum. Also, you might be taking longer to get to sleep if you aren't active enough during the day. So if that's the case, just try finding things to do that will sort of wear you out (work out, play sports, learn new things, etc.). But don't do them just before your bedtime, or else it will make it more difficult to get to sleep because you'll be all worked up.
