Yup! thats Leigh as you guys remember her as Switch. She's been in Japan for the past year now and she's completely given up on Lucid Dreaming, Dream Sharing and every other gift that she has. For the past Year I've been trying to convince her to maintain her abilities and don't push them to the side. Because I would give up everything to do what she can do. But she will not for the life of me tell me what the Hell has frighten her In Japan. Im at a lost.

My parents have had LD's before, so when I talk about them to them, I get comments like 'That's neat' or 'Your getting really good." Anyway, I come from a house with a Dad interested in Shamanism. What else could I expect. I'm glad.

I tryed to explain it to my parents once and my dad said if I knew the scientific reason why i did it i would never do it again lol. My mom (divorced) said it runs in the family. And my huband said I was wacko until I started telling him about things i dreamed from his past.

whenever i mention anything like this to my family, or anyone else for that matter they always seem to think that i'm messing with something that shouldn't be messed with. either that or they look at me like i'm insane. i couldn't care less either way. i do it for me.

Nowadays, especially in the western countries, the term “dream” is something that is not taken seriously and sometimes is associated with spirits etc. So it is not commonly discussed and maybe considered taboo even if everybody has some every single night. Not to mention LD - I rely on the welcome message of this site as it represents my point of view clearly.

The funny thing is that many people do Reality Checks...without knowing their power (RC). For example, they pinch themselves just to see if they are dreaming (to check if it’s real).

So to speak personally, I have said nothing to my family.Sometimes I reflect what treasure they lose. I dont even mention it to friends...as they may consider it too insane. And I have no doubt, there are many “naturals” who are afraid to discuss LD. It is a pitty, isnt it?

So the only people I can talk about LD ,freely, are you!

well I told my mom about it once, she first thought I was toying with things that I shouldnt like an occult or something but then I explained to her what exactly it meant, then she acted like she approved but it was obvious that she still didnt believe me so I just never talked about it again, also I dont walk up to my friend and say I LD, the only time that I ever talk to them about it is when we get to talking about dreaming, then I ask them if they have ever been in a dream and realized that they were dreaming, if they say yes then I expand on it and if they say no I just drop it

No one in my family aside from my husband knows that I LD (my parents would definately NOT understand).

My husband.. (bless his heart).. looks at lucid dreaming as my "little hobby". He really doesn't remember his dreams (unless they're nightmares) and he doesn't really get the whole lucidity thing. Now.. this being said.. he loves me enough not to criticize me or belittle what I do. He doesn't blink an eye when I get up at 3:30 a.m. and go to the living room couch to try the wbtb method. He even asks me occasionally if I'm going to "try dreaming" tonight.

I have a whole bookcase of CDs, cassettes, dvds and books on lucid dreaming, astral projection and oobes and he's fine with it all.

One day he came home from work with a t-shirt that said "Believe In Your Dreams" and I actually broke down and cried. It just meant so much that, even though he doesn't participate, he recognized how important this is to me. Yep.. he's a keeper!

my mother is very religious and has no doubt about everything she hears about our religion, but when it comes to mystical and other spiritual stuff she is the most skeptical person on earth, you wouldn`t convince her about the possibility of occultism in a million of years. So thats why i dont even dare to talk about Dream Share with her.

I might be rare compared to the rest of you then. I've told my mom about them since the first time i could remember even having a lucid dream. After a while i began to look up articles on dreams and their meanings, ect. Dreams are talked about quite a bit at my house. Although the really freaky ones, i keep to myself or if they're just too weird, i'll talk them over with my friend (the one on here learning how to lucid dream)
My whole family knows, and they all think i'm lucky if anything about it at all.
Why is it that when i am holding all of the cards, everyone else decided to play chess?

My family knows me well enough to know that I'm well grounded in reality and not prone to flights of fancy, so they have been fairly accepting when I've talked about it. However, I still get the feeling that some of them are skeptical..
