      Weather in dreams?

I was walking home from school in the pissing rain today when I had a thought- does it ever rain in a dream?
Are there any weather effects in a dream?

I thought back over my dreams I have recorded, and they have never had weather in them. They have sometimes had snow on the ground or grey skies, but it was never snowing or raining.

No matter where I was, it never snowed, rained, hailed, or was sunny or windy, or even cold or hot.
Why is this? And more importantly, is there a way in which we can use this in our reality checking?

That is of course it isn't just my dreams that lack weather.

Yeah in my more vivid dreams, most of my dreams are at night!

All at night? Wow, that's something. Most of my dreams are either inside (not necessarily a building) or I never look at the sky. And even when I know it is night time in the dream, it is usually well lit, or at least brighter than in real life.

I was thinking if we could reality check to weather, but it wouldn't really work as it's the absence of weather that is the trigger, but in real life there is never an absence of weather- there is always some wind or sunlight or something. Only on a completely calm, overcast day that is neither hot nor cold would this check work. And since they rarely roll around you wouldn't be doing this often enough.

Maybe you could reality check every time you notice something weather related?

I saw rain in my dream once. I was coming home from school and I took a sewer route.

But is it often you see or experience weather in dreams? For me, I think it rained once in a dream before, and it might have been slightly cold in another. But that's it.

Maybe, but I think there are more obvious dreamsigns, and anyway, if I did a reality check whenever I noticed the weather I'd be doing them all the time.

in my dream it NEVER rained, although I had a few snowing dreams. but I've never felt extremely cold or hot in dream..I think most of my dreams are fine in weather. I dont look at sky but sometimes I recognize the weather without looking.

Maybe it was just me then. Weather in my dreams is like noticing your socks in the day- they are always there but unless you are moving them you don't notice it at all.
Maybe I will try doing an R.C every time I feel cold/hot, or feel the wind or the rain, or see it, etc etc.

Never know, I might get lucid sometime, or maybe just introduce weather effects into my dreams!

My dreams are mainly dark. I've had a few where I've been in snowy tundras.. although those were psychological ones which played on my mind and depicted loss and betrayal, etc. I yearn for brighter dreams if I'm honest (as they rarely occur..). I remember once having a lucid where it was insanely sunny; probably the most I've ever seen in a dream.. but like I said, it's very rare this happens.

Anybody know how to fix this? Inb4changingweatherwhilelucid - I mean does anybody know how to generally have more brighter dreams?

EDIT: Thinking about it, I also recall a normal dream where it rained. It was a very heavy storm - one which almost swept me away.

Dreams in which the weather was far too extreme to be real for me don't really count. Like as you said the rain swept you away or the sun was insanely bright- that doesn't happen in real life, usually.

What I'm talking about is weather in dreams like it is in real life- there, but not changing the situation or being to obstructive. Like if you step outside right now, and it's just sunny, it is just sunny. But if it's insanely bright then that isn't just the weather, that is something dreamlike, there is a difference if you know what I mean.

I worded myself wrong. By ''insanely bright'' I refer to it being like those really sunny days you get in the real world. The storm, however, I've never experienced IRL as that was pretty much a hurricane.

Ok, well what I said still applies, minus the sunlight, but that again probably has happened to someone in a dream, like extremely strong wind or snow that fell fast and slowed down the dreamer or something.

My dreams usually have a pretty diverse mix of weather. Usually it's more noticeable when it's extreme weather (tornadoes, floods, etc.), but I sometimes get rain, snow and stuff, too.

You know that I mean actual weather effects, and not just snow on the ground or puddles? It never seems to actually snow or rain or hail or have bright sunlight in my dreams. They always seem to be overcast, and nothing else. A few times there was snow, but only because I dreamed of a snowy place, and it wasn't actually falling.

Yes. I actually mean weather effects.

It was raining, and I was in what I believe to be a schoolyard. A bunch of people were huddled around on some blacktop, and having a dance battle in the rain. I stepped in to get involved. People were pulling off all kinds of crazy moves, flips and freezes and whatnot. I did some popping and waving, but when I tried to floorglide, I kept slipping because the rain water had built up to about an inch off the ground. I was even able to pull off a few flips myself. After a while, we switched it up, and started scatting and freestyle rapping to the music. I did ok on the scatting, but I did much better on the freestyling. I discovered a boy there that had a knife. Apparently, there was a ghost moving around through the crowd. I just barely got a glimpse as it was taunting the kid with the knife. The boy lunged at it and it slipped away, causing the boy to miss and plunge the knife into the back of some innocent girl's skull. She dropped like a stone, and he was horrified at what he'd done. I saw the ghost dissolve into some nearby person's body, possessing them. It just sat there and smiled fiendishly as the boy took off running and jumped over a fence, fleeing the scene.

Ok, sorry. That sounds like a pretty awesome dream, even if it ends quite malevolently.

Yeah, the dancing part was awesome. The part with the ghost was kinda creepy. Lol.

Last night I had dreams about zombies and stuff. It was weird because at the start there were people with me, and zombies but we were fine just running past them, but then everyone left and I got gradually more anxious and eventually hid in a yellow refuse bin, with my rifle pointed at the lid. Funny how things go.

And that dream was outside but there was no weather!

There is sometimes weather in my dreams. I've dreamed that it was raning a few times and at least once I've dreamed about thunder. Usually if my dream is outside it is sunny. I can't remember ever being very warm in a dream, but I have dreamed about being outside when it was snowing and then I was cold.

I've noticed that sometimes it will start raining if I'm sad in a dream, and I'm usually happy in a sunny dream. Sometimes the weather is just part of the background of the dream and might have some subconsious meaning even though I don't realize it.

I think weather usually isn't part of a dream because it isn't needed. It's like in a short story where every element is important and everything that isn't essential to the story is left out. Because of this I think that a person who finds weather important (or a consious or subconsious level) when they're awake are more like to dream about it.

Feeling warm or cold in a dream might have a deeper meaning, but might simply be that your body is warm or cold.

I try to notice every time the weather or the sky is unusual and I've at least once become lucid when I noticed that the sky was unbelievably beautiful.

Hm, yeah I'm not usually one to believe in things having a meaning in dreams, like things symbolizing different things, but in a way you could be right, if we are really angry or sad in a dream it's unlikely it would continue to be warm and sunny, but that doesn't mean there will be a dramatic change thought.

Now that I think about it, statistically my dreams outside take place during either sunny or cloudy days, while dreams inside take place during the night.

I had a lucid once though where I just walked down the street and marveled as the dream cycled from a dark winter night with heavy snowfall and hundreds of snowflakes dancing before my eyes, and where I could see the bright orange projection of a streetlight reflecting off of banks of snow glowing a sort of purplish blue, to bright and sunny day, to a cloudy one, and finally to one of those autumnal sunsets that tends to color everything a pretty shade of orange. It was the most beautiful dream I ever had.

That sounds pretty damn sweet. Plus it was lucid so you could appreciate it more.
I think I will try to do something like that when I get a proper lucid going, changing the weather. If it feels as vivid as real life, then doing something that cannot be done anywhere else would be extraordinary.

then in non-LD cases, I think the emotion or condition may affect the weather in dream

I kind of based my whole name about dream weather Although I seldom see it during non-lucids, I sure hope to be able to create an amazing thunderstorm in a lucid one, it is my #1 priority for some reason....weird....maybe its because I love rain so much
