Red face Psychophysiological Correlates of Lucid Dreaming

      Hey!

I'm an undergraduate student in Ohio attempting to answer the question, "Can Neuroscience explain Lucid Dreaming?" for a research paper. I was wondering if any of you have read the research article entitled "Psychophysiological Correlates of Lucid Dreaming" by Holzinger, LaBerge and Levitan. If so, within the abstract, it explains that all of the study participants were experienced in lucid dreaming. Do you know if that means that, on their own, the individuals had had many LDs, or that they'd been to sleep labs and experienced induced ones? I'm just trying to understand some of the details within the study, so if any of you have read it and know what I'm asking, your help would be greatly appreciated!

      Hey, welcome to Dreamviews!

I haven't read the article, but I did a quick search and found it on google and read the paragraph about the subjects. I'm just guessing, but it sounds like they mean the subjects had experience with LDing on their own. Maybe it would be clearer after reading the full article, but I'm up too ridiculously late to start. I think it's safe to assume they were natural LDers.

      Good luck with your paper

      Moved to general lucid discussion.

I've read some on this, I'm almost sure they mean it in sleeping labs and track whats happening in the brain; have you read about LaBerge about when he use an EEG and saw difference in brain activity when someone had a lucid dream?
