      question re WILD

okay, so the other morning i woke up around five am, with the light coming into my room...i came half awake, and i was still partly in a dream, and i remembered that this would be a perfect condition for a WILD. So i tried to drift back into the dream, concentrating on my last clear image. I was nearly there too, when something (i'm not sure what) distracted me, and i lost the whole thing!
Any tips on avoiding any external distraction?
bear in mind i was half asleep, so it didn't seem as though there was much i could do about it.

I ALWAYS sleep with earplugs and a sleepmask on, that way when I wake in the morning or at night I can just go straight to WILDing, also the sleepmask helps when in SP

make sure you get comfortable ones also I used to hurt really bad in my ears when I first started, but after about a week the pain and mild swelling stopped

SantaDreamsToo & Irishcream, I just put the information below in another post but you might find it helpful:

The earplugs I use I believe I got at Target but you can probably get them (or something similar) at any drugstore. If not, they have a website: http://www.dapworld.com/products-noise.htm

Mine are "ear filters" called "HEAROS". They are super soft, beige in color and you flatten them and then stick them in your ears. The box says that they have a noise reduction rating of 30 decibels.

I find these to be very comfortable. They don't filter extremely loud sounds but they do filter enough sound so that I can concentrate on my breathing or on my affirmations.

There were 40 in the box and they didn't cost alot.

      Hope this helps!

      Hi Irish,

After years of trying to deal with distractions by trying to ignore them, it occurred to me that there is a Paradox embedded in all of these notions concerning meditation and contemplation and what-have-you. I always noticed that it is the very thing that one is meditating on that falls away from attention. As soon as we make something the Foreground, it instantly recedes into the Field. The Gurus must be laughing when they insist that we concentrate on anything, because it is the very thing we concentrate on which disappears.

So, when something distracts you... meditate on it until it goes away.

I see what you're saying, but in this case i wasn't quite sure what it was distracting me, and surely if i totally switch my thoughts to the thing that's distracting me, i'm going to lose the whole thing anyway?
