      Music and Lucid Dreaming

I am a fairly musical person (guitar, piano) and how I first came to research lucid dreaming was that after a good day, as I fell asleep, I could concentrate inwards somehow and control a tune. This wasn't just a song stuck in the head, it was all I heard - there was no other sound, no cars driving past my window, and I couldn't notice the neighbors noise. I definitely felt in a lucid state but the music was the only thing I was in control of - no environment, no people, etc. Is this a lucid dream, and how was it that I didn't need to 'induce' it? I have been trying for a while to DEILD and WILD and it is much harder than this music lucidity I have described.

it most definitely was! People doesnt know it, but a LD doesnt have to be all senses. And Lucids can come naturally, ive had it all my life without knowing what it was. Maybe you can use this to induce more lucids?

That's very interesting.... I have only had a couple of lucid dreams so I'm not even adept at LD induction, But both of mine were just kind of physical, like walking about or wandering. I believe it would only be considered lucid if you realized that you were dreaming in the middle of it. If you weren't completely asleep but in more of a relaxed meditative state then perhaps this was the start of a WILD, or wake induced Lucid Dream. This is a common method with many variations, and many people may do it even if they don't realize it. Perhaps this was the beginning of a lucid dream for you... just to clarify, was the tone you described sounding even after you fell asleep?
If sweetness can win, and it can, I will be here tomorrow to high five you yesterday. Peace.

The question is when your musical experience occured? Was it at the very start of the night or after a few hours of sleep?

If it happened at the start of the night, you've experienced a hypnogogic state, where different modes of thinking become available. I've also had musical experiences where I can create a melody in my mind, another cool experience is being able to spontaneously recall dreams.

If that happened after a few hours of sleep or after awakening, then you were experiencing a hypnopompic hallucination. While it is also pretty cool, what you are describing does not sound like a dream onset, as that one is much more rapid and less controlled. One cool thing that you can do in a hypnopompic state is see with your eyes closed.

It's interesting to know that a LD may involve just a few senses.
