Thread: Loud popping or boom before sleep

This has happened a few time to me and I was wodering if it's ever happend to anyone else.

Sometimes just before I fall alseep, I hear a loud pop or even a sound much like a shotgun blast and it will scare the crap out of me.

Is this common?

I've had the same thing happen before too, but usually right when I enter a WILD.

Oh yeah, I had that last month a couple of times when I was trying to WILD and a few times when just woke up from normal sleep...Yeah it's very scary...The first time I heard it i had to check the house if something was broken, it sounded like some water pipe blowing up...

It's a hypnagogic sound. Happens to me a lot, especially when trying to WILD. Often it is a clap of thunder or a door slamming shut for me. It's difficult to maintain concentration to WILD when it happens, but if I am close to entering a dream, then I am prepared and don't let it bother me too much. I always wonder though if it is a real noise that I need to get up and check out, like someone breaking into the house.

Anyways, I've had that happen one or 2 times and it's startles me awake. Sometimes it's someone saying something

about 5 years ago before i started lding i used to get noises coming from under my pillow like an army of frogs jumping underneath it, but i think it was just my ears being really sensitive and being able to listen to my own blood flowing

Yep thats very common as you are drifting into sleep. My observation is the wired noises that you here and often people talking like groups of people is your dreamworld. You have Audio of this but not Visulization at that moment. At that moment you are in a transistion from the real world into the dreamworld. inbetween 2 levels. I can never get used to that when it happens to me because it always catch me off guard. But its very common. Usually people who are sensitive to these particular scenerios can become great WILD'ers

I've sometimes, almost have begun a WILD.

Problem is I get scared very easy. And I end up bringing myself out of it because the sensations freak me out.

i've read elsewhere that I need to be cool and kinda go with the flow.

Any advice?
