Looking for your Dream Guide

I always wondered if actively searching for your dream guide was the right way to go about it. It made me wonder if it would be less "real". If I actively look for one, I might have preconceived ideas of what he/she is supposed to look like and be like, and cause me to create just another DC molding itself into what I want. I like the idea of them having a will of their own. So does that mean I shouldn't go trying to summon one? Should I just wait for one to find me? My best friend found hers that way. At first she thought it was an annoying DC because he kept getting in the way of her fun, and she seemed to have no power over him.... Then he eventually introduced himself to her. What do you guys think happens most of the time...and do you think trying to conjure yours makes it any less realistic?

You'll find yours when they think you're ready. You probably have already seen them many times. Searching for them, might be what they are waiting for.

I believe that DG's are actually just DC's that simply have a more full of a connection to your SC. But I do believe that this also does give them a kind of will separate from your own. They only exist in your head, but they have so much of your living experience, and such a large well of possibilities in terms of personality and character that they are very nearly what they seem to be. That is a separate consciousness external from your own. Just my beliefs though. With that in mind I think that whether or not you choose to seek him/her out, or to wait until one appears to you, you can't go wrong. It may take time and practice and strong intention for your SC to come up with the kind of DG that is deep and realistic enough for you, so you may have to have a few failures under your belt before your SC can create a seemingly static character. But no, once you decide on a DG I don't believe that it can be any less realistic than if you waited. If nothing else, you will get to know them better over time and their personality will flesh out and grow deeper. I have spent some time looking for my DG, and the only real response I got was that I needed to go complete more of my goals and get them out of the way so I could concentrate on her more fully when I was ready.

My friend said he found his DG. He walked into a white room. Found a middle aged man who introduced himself as "salt". Then salt walked through a wall that my friend couldn't get through

That makes a lot of sense. I guess you are right. Even if I feel like it is my own creation it will develop fully into what I need it to be and it would be hard to tell the difference. I had a lucid dream a month ago where I asked to see my spirit guide (or dream guide?) out loud. Nothing happened. I was floating at the time, and I came back down and walked through a hallway with a door that had a big mirror on it. I asked again, and suddenly I saw myself (but a bit different, maybe older?) in the mirror wearing a black cape, looking back at me like 'here I am' in an ironic sort of way. I immediately thought 'if I'm my own guide, I'm screwed' and walked through the door into another dream My friend said he found his DG. He walked into a white room. suddenly I saw myself (but a bit different, maybe older?) in the mirror wearing a black cape, looking back at me like 'here I am' in an ironic sort of way. That sounds a lot like the way I see myself in mirrors when I'm dreaming. Except I have this awesome beard in my dreams, when I shave mine IRL.

@OP I pondered on this a few weeks ago, aswell. I came to the conclusion that I'd meditate in my lucid dreams or carry on doing something peaceful while thinking about philosophy. If my dream guide understands that I am in seek of his/her guidance for my dreams, they will come to me. Whether this is a placebo affect or not, I believe it will happen.

Yeah, I think that might be a good way of doing it. I tried asking a DC last night if she was my dream guide. She said 'yes' but she was acting very dumb, like an empty shell DC. No intelligence whatsoever...so I think I will just keep in the back of my mind that I would like one to come. But I will wait to be introduced.
