      Crazy Night! First post!

Hey everyone, I had such a crazy night lucid dreaming last night that I looked on google for a forum so I could make an account and share with and get feedback from people who know more about this than I do. First things first, I've had a few lucid dreams in my life since I was in middle school, they always involved me waking up in the middle of the night for some reason and falling back asleep, once dreaming I would remember having been in my bed moments ago and that would trigger the dream. Last night however was different. I had several lucid dreams (many that started non lucid) throughout the night. I can't be certain but I think every dream I had became lucid for at least a short time. The dreams all had a common theme and I could even recall the situations from earlier dreams (though not perfectly) I was able to fly at will, something I've done in non lucid dreams before, and even managed with a small amount of difficulty to summon a person, sadly the eh... excitement, I felt after managing to summon this person woke me up I also tried to make it day and failed, this too waking me up. Still considering how successful this night was I am excited to try again. My technique so far has been to "think really hard about lucid dreaming as I fall asleep" Really what I seem to be doing is observing my train of thought as I fall asleep, from this perspective I seem to able to follow it into my dreams... so that may sound crazy but that's the best way I can think to describe it. Does anyone else use a similar technique to mine? Do you know how to make it more efficient?

P.S, afer browsing the forums I see that some people say they can never fly. I never had trouble doing it because I remembered so vividly a non lucid dream I had in which I flew. When I took off in this dream it felt exactly like my stomach does on a roller coaster or going down a hill in a fast car. I didn't jump or flap my arms and focusing on his feeling along with a tightening of the stomach muscles almosy always works for me. Sometimes I would temporarliy have trouble by trying to "force" myself to fly then I would change my approach to "letting" myself fly, this distinction always allowed me to fly. Perhaps these thoughts will help others as well.

You sound like you are a natural lucid dreamer, as many people can't just simply think about wanting a lucid dream as this never works. But I've never had a lucid dream so, what do I know!!!

That's really cool, it seems to me that it would be easy for you to get into it quickly since you have already had natural experiences with it. From what you described your technique seems like a WILD (wake initiated Lucid dream) or DEILD (dream exit induced lucid dream). Check out some of the techniques around here in the tutorials section and see if they are like what happened to you and you can also see some ways of practicing these techniques.

As for flying I would assume some people may not be able to grasp it because it's not a sensation that they have encountered before and may not be confident in their abilities, hindering them from being able to properly fly. In your case you've felt the sensation of flying in non-lucids before so you already know what it's like and are confident that you can do it again. I've had each situation in different dreams. The first time (my first lucid actually) I became lucid and immediately wanted to fly so I jumped in the air but all I did was hover for a second and float back down. The second time, after reading up on some information about dream control, I became lucid and hardly even had to think about it. I just was like "I will fly" with full confidence that it would happen and then flew high in the air before waking from excitement. I believe it's the confidence that makes the big difference, as well as knowing what the sensation feels like to recreate it.

Congrats, that's pretty awesome that it comes so naturally to you. It's going to take me a lot more practice lol.
