      1st Lucid Dream/Accidental WBTB/My imagination?

Okay, so this is pretty weird and I'm not sure if I even had a lucid dream or just thought I was lucid but was just lying in bed imagining things.

So, I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night. I'd been having a lot of dreams just before I woke up. I did some stuff on my phone for like 5 minutes then I fell asleep again (I think with the phone in my hand because it was on the floor when I woke up).

By sheer coincidence, a very strange image popped into my head at the exact same time I fell asleep. It was some kind of image of two-dimensional tree (like This one but less detailed). Under the tree it said something related to Lucid Dreaming. The image "zoomed out" and I noticed it said "advert" next to it. I felt disappointed.

The image stayed in my mind. I then thought "I'm dreaming!". I did some stuff, it was blurry and mostly colorless or dull colors (As if it was a painting with the paint running down). I did some stuff. I wanted to increase the clarity and I was tempted to yell "INCREASE CLARITY" but I couldn't. I felt like I was still in bed and I would yell out loud in the real world. It was a very peculiar sensation.

This confused me. I felt like if I opened my eyes I'd still be in my room; it didn't feel like I was fully dreaming. More like lying in bed imagining stuff. I don't know if I had a real lucid dream or not.

You were more than likely right on the edge of lucidity. It was probably an extremely vivid day dream that was actually transforming into an actual LD. If you still felt like you could move your arms and such then you probably weren't in a dream. Next time this happens, relax and try to immerse yourself slowly. Stabilize first and they slowly work your way into the dream by activating your senses.

On the contrary, I felt like I couldn't move at all for the most part. I was kind of a "flying camera" in a game, I wasn't walking. I was moving just on impulse.

Well if you felt like you couldn't move you may have very well been in an actual dream. A beginning REM sleep dream. On some of the first dreams of the night they are actually very short and hard to control and or stabilize. They aren't the most clear in other words so this could have been what you were experiencing. Which would, in fact, be a dream. Do you recall how long you had slept prior to this event?

I disagree with the others. I'd say you were having a full-on lucid dream. If you were dreaming and aware that you were dreaming, then it's lucid. It doesn't matter that you had little or no control over the dream. You were just in a light sleep.

I've had lucid dreams before where I could still feel my limbs. Mostly at the beginning of a dream, if I use a WBTB method, I might have a transition period where my mind is dreaming but I can still feel my body.
