      Stop playing video games!!!

all i dream about in games now is either

      1. Playing minecraft
      2. Playing CoD
      3. Playing Skyrim

how are dreamsigns supposed to work when i'm only playing video games in my dreams?
because anything weird that happens gets rationalised by, "oh, it's a video game. must be a part of it."

Well, use games as your dream sign and you'll always be lucid I'm actually trying that to see if it's useful because I've noticed how much video games show up in dreams.

Check out my thread about it:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/playin...-shows-128163/

If you end up trying this out let me know what it does for you because I haven't really had the time or interest to play many games so it hasn't had a big part of my dreams so far.

Weird. Even though I play a lot of video games on my computer, I rarely have dreams about them. I can recall a couple of times I've dreamt about Minecraft though. I've also had some terrible nightmares about me loosing all my gear in the wilderness of Runescape when I played that years ago.

Try to be aware while playing the games When I used to play HoN, I reality checked every time I died and I actually got some lucid dreams, because of that.

So use the videogames to your advantage

This is the same for me.
To be honest recognising dream signs has never been a method I use or advise when attempting to become lucid, probably because the area that governs being able to actively recognise an aspect in the dream requires an area of your memory which is pretty much inactive during sleep. Of course you can recognise something is off if you are aware, but then you are likely to be lucid so it's pointless anyway at that point.

I totally had a Minecraft dream two days ago after my friend introduced me to FortressCraft. In the dream I built a castle.

The next day, I go over his house and start building like a manic. It was an amazing castle.

Just had a lucid dream today, and it was about Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

Fairly short, but I still love to have lucid dreams in games. It's like testing out the physics of the game, when you know how it really works, and also bending the physics.

Same thing happens to me when I get really tied up in a show/anime/manga. All I do for a day is watch/read and it really transfers into my dreams. For example, watched Code Geass all day the other day. That night, every single dream I remembered, about 5 or 6, was about it

Think about other things before you go to bed. I think games like Minecraft actually help you become lucid, becuase a game that creative allows your mind to get used to the idea of flying and creating things instantly.

well its not that it's bad or anything but the dream signs get absent mindedly passed off because the game itself can rationalise it... but it really isn't skyrim at all... some mishmash of skyrim and memories

ROFL that sounds like my little brothers dreams.

You could not play as much.

Also it seems people who play video games if they quit than they will start having bad ass dreams to make up for it. It also applies to other things like sex, or whatever else you enjoy that would make your desire for it manifest in dreams.

Funny thing is that I never dream about my video games. I used to have nightmares about the redeads in legend of zelda the wind waker (Look them up they're pretty scary), and I would be able to wake myself up, but that is the only game I have ever had dreams of. It is weird though because my life is pretty much video games XD, but they don't follow me in the dreaming world.

Now that I think about it, I do this quite a lot ^_^ I've had several RuneScape dreams, the most memorable was about 3 years ago when I stumbled upon a field filled with partyhats! But the field was enclosed in a gate and I couldn't get them =.= I've had a few about Minecraft, and also an occasional random game. I had one about fable 3 last month, and one about Pokemon Snap last night actually =P

I'd also consider myself quite a gamer with about ~20 hours per week, but I don't actually have that many dreams about the game. As long as you keep your awareness levels up consistently, this isn't a problem Try not to game TOO "in the zone", i.e. perhaps each time you die, or go to a toilet break, review what happened in the last (x) amount of time and question your reality at that particular time.

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!

Yeah well I've stopped having gaming dreams... but it's kind of different know, I'll be having a dream and then my mum will walk up beside me and say "ok you've played enough..." and i'll be like "But i've only played an hour!" "Too bad, get off" then the dream will black out and i'll wake up... facepalm included.

I keep dreaming about Minecraft and HoN, (and the concerts I keep re-watching) I like the idea that Minecraft could actually be useful... I never really thought about it.

Minecraft is the worst. I find myself randomly digging and placing blocks in otherwise unrelated dreams.

when I used to play video ogames all the time I used to get dream fragments that only lasted like 5 seconds and gave me a headache when I woke up
I was so much older then, I'm younger then that now.

^This is what I was thinking too. I notice whatever video game I'm playing with my son ends up being part of at least one dream I have that night, if not more. I've started reality checking every time we load up a game, just to be sure, then whenever I load a new level/world/track/we depending on the game. Been doing this for a week with no luck, but since I've only got one real lucid where I didn't get excited and wake right up under my belt, it could just be that I'm not experienced enough.

Deatheraux, are you dreaming of playing or dreaming of being in the game? That might be the difference, I usually find myself dreaming that I am the main character of the game, rather than pushing buttons on a controller. Obviously, if your the character in the game you realize something's not right and it can work as a dream sign. I suppose if your dreaming that your pushing the buttons and actually playing the game, it'd be a lot harder! Maybe whenever you start a new level/world/etc. you could ask yourself, what level did I play before this? then if that carries on into your dreams where your asking yourself what level you played before, you'll realize you have no clue and you must be dreaming?
