      Excessively violent dreams...

G'day, I frequently find myself dreaming of fighting in various ways (shooting, fists, sticks...) and usually do things with an air of "Oh my God I am going to die.", and find myself fighting like a mad thing just to survive. Or being hunted down, then turning and attacking my persuer. I've had these dreams for a few years now, I don't think I'm aggressive in the waking world but last week I had one where I was fighting some dude who attacked a group of us in a car park and I started fighting with him so everyone else could escape, eventually I strangled him but stopped short and let him get up and run away. Quite often in the dreams I am fighting for something (i.e not just randomly brawling) such as defending people I know, or trying to stop someone else doing something.

What I was wondering, is after reading the entry for fighting in a book of dream symbols which says something about subconsicous turmoil or conflict, does anyone else have any input on what could be causing it? I am intending to head into the Royal Marines after Uni, but I'm sure that can't be it. After the one I mentioned before about strangling the bloke, I'm quite worried as I was acting in a way completely contrary to my normal self, trying to kill someone like that and enjoying it bothers me somewhat.

Meh, I'm starting to ramble now, but any help would be appreciated.

[edit] Ah, I seem to have posted this before on these forums, after my PC got wiped last year by a virus I forgot to come back until I found this place on google again. Sorry guysl, and thanks for the help last time. [/edit]

I sometimes get violent dreams but aren't especially worried about them I just see it as my uncouncious doing something that is generally regarded as being forbidden in real life.

A couple of years ago I had violent dreams all the time and I think it could perhaps be because of the chemical turmoil that most people experience in puberty.

I know what you mean, anything that I can call a 'nightmare' that occurrs in my dreams is extremely gruesome in content. (IE a battle to the death with very sharp nail scissors, I can remember every cut and slice.)

I think it might be an attempt by your mind to shock you into some kind of realisation, and since you might be a particularly difficult person to shock your mind has to go to the extreme to get a response.

      Maybe.

Yeah, I've been talking to some people im my colleg who have taken phycology, and they came up with something like my subconscious is trying to represent inner conflict, and each person in the dreams representing a certain part of my subconscious or personality, and the 'good' parts are trying to oust the 'negative' parts, thus the imagery. Certainly it is true that many of the people I end up fighting seem to represent things I don't like in people (myself included), so maybe this has some truth to it? I never seem to find myself being motivated by anger, hate or anything like that, so at least thats a good point . Also, I often do things that when I think about it seem far too brave for me, so maybe theres parts of me that I need to bring to the surface more lol.

On a similar train of thought, if I can get the hang of LD'ing and then consciously defeat the evil things, would this have any effect on me in the waking world, should the above theories be correct? It would be interesting to find out.
