I've turned to the forums for a little help here. I want to enter SP to conduct my very first lucid dream. (I'm turning to WILD because DILD will take time to adjust to and get it happen every couple of weeks. I'd like to experience my first lucid very soon)
Of course, that is my problem. I can't get SP to come in. Those who have read my "interesting questions" thread can refer to it to know The closest I come to is having odd sensations. These are not things like people touching me, but rather things like tingling feelings, numbing of small areas of my limbs. I can identify 5 very odd different ones.

I will lay down, get relaxed and comfortable, and count my breathe and visualize. (mostly the numbers) If i can forget about my body, forget my physical form exists and just think, Then the closest sensation that comes to SP happens. My feet (and ONLY my feet) will numb, as if it's asleep. I get stuck there. Nothing else happens.

Occasionally i can simulate the sleep breathing patterns and Then Narcotic breathing happens (It's one of Nick Newport's own terminology. I don't know what else to call it.) I slowly relax until i black out. The next thing I remember is me waking up. But this scenario happens only sometimes.

I have TERRIBLE insomnia, and I never get to sleep. Which is why I have turned to the miracle that is lucid dreaming, and it's techniques. The only form of sleep I can get is daytime naps. I've become...an owl. (cue sad violin music)

I'd like to know if anyone has any available tips for me to achieve SP. Or to actually fall asleep.
