Ageing(possible)

okay i heard a story that some guy stayed in a lucid dream for 100 years(dream time)but in real life it was only 2 hours. is it possible that in those 100 years u can age or something if it messes with ur mind w/e

You should ask Gothlark about this. He says that he's had a number of dreams that seem to last for days, months or even years.

Oh man. Wow. That has seriously just opened up my mind to lucid dreaming. I've lusted to have one for years but never been able to. Reading this makes me want one even more now. The ability to dream the unbelievable has the biggest effect of amazement on me. Wow. So powerful. TB

No, not possible at all. Life isn't "the Matrix". Although mental ageing is quite possible. Experience-wise ageing that is. But bodily... If you think that you must be doing drugs ;D Oh, and yeah, this is my belief of the matter.

I agree with him on this, although if you think about it being lucid in a dream for 100 years would more of make you more immature, I say this because in a dream there are no rules to abide by and when you talk to someone you would only be talking to yourself (if they could even carry on a conversation at all) what I mean is that if you got used to a world with no rules where you could just attack, kill, or rape anyone that you saw, then theres almost no way (unless you were trying) to gain maturity (unless in something like sexual maturity )

I've spoken to gothlark numerous off occasions about this and he states being able to sustain or even prolong the time span of dream time, and whether (obviuosly not) the same as reality time he can have dreams that last up to hundreds of years as you stated and wayne. As im a bit skeptical and i've got the idea in my head that what is actually happening is his subconcious is like on a fast-forward mode and he's cramming shit loads of dreamtime into what appears to be only two hours. ill finish by saying i believe what he does to be possible but im only skeptical myslef as ive not experienced this myself yet, wish you all the best gothlark and ill spk to u on msn in 2 mins lol

If you have the capacity to feel guilt over causing unnecessary suffering of the innocent, you will never become a rapist or a murderer. Your conscience develops at a very early age, and once it is there, it never goes away. As for the aging, that is a biological process. Although your mental experience might involve hundreds of years, that does not mean your whole body does. I remember reading last December some posts about living for decades in a lucid dream. That sounds incredible! I am pretty skeptical, but I can kind of see where it might be possible. You have no idea how much I hope it can work.

In the Research team I started a Short Term Memory experiment. This experiment I was hoping could shed some light into the interactions and contradictions between our waking life and our dreams. Wich could very well shed light on many issues such as time dialtion in our dreams. If anyone is intersted please do make an effort at what I proposed. It really does not take much effort on the part of the participant other than becoming lucid and remembering a few things.

So, when somebody claims to have had a dream in which they aged a hundred years, then simply wait and observe. Are they cranky? Are they opinionated? Are they sure of themselves? Are they wise? Or have they simply come up with a New Age Story designed to give themselves a modicum of momentary fame? Now, Mohamed had told a similar story. That he was taking a nap when the Angel Gabriel came to him. the surprise made Mohamed kick over a glass of wine that had been sitting near his feet. Well, the Angel Gabriel took Mohament for a complete tour of the World and of Heaven above, inclusive of a very intricate briefing regarding acceptable Religious Doctrines. Anyway, when the Angel Gabriel brought Mohamed back, there was still time to pick up the wine glass before it had totally spilled. In the case of Mohamed, there where many people who had known him from before, and they were impressed with the transformation that was made in Mohamed and chose to believe his story. Or maybe I am giving them too much credit. Maybe, like the 100 Year Lucid Dreamer, he simply decided upon a wonderful story as an introduction to his new career as ... what would now be called a New Age Guru.

When I was young, I could not understand why all the old people were cranky. Now being in my middle 40's, I find that crankiness is creeping up on me as well I still have great success at fighting it off, but some of my closer friends and aqaintences here at DreamViews have experienced me on some of my cranky days. Sorry about those times folks I'm sure that if anyone ever found a way to live to be 150 years old, someone would pass a law to euthanize them. I find that my crankiness comes from watching people make the same mistakes over and over again, as well as viewing all the injustice in the world and not being able to do anything about it. Imagine your outlook on life after 100 or 200 years.

I dont see how someone can dream for that long? i know you can fall asleep for half an hour and hav a dream that seemed to hav lasted for hours, but years? im sitting on the fence for this one. Although i do believe that we can put dreams to good use to discover unanswered questions about life etc. If you have seen ''waking life'' then youll know wat im talking about. Our minds are amazing things but we only use a small percentage of it. If we can obtain and control LD's as much as we want then we can do anything as anything is possible in our dream lives.

I can't imagine dreaming for these lengths of time, so I don't know a true answer myself, but I've had dreams where real time was only 10 minutes, but the dream seems to last for half an hour. So the theory does work, but I'm not convinced a dream can be vivid enough to remain stable that long.

I think the person you heard about dreaming for 100 years was Robert Monroe. Whether you believe it or think its just a type of dream, its your choice. Robert Monroe had an astral projection/out of body experience that lasted 100 years. In only 2 hours time... Nothing revelant but anyways...This might sound absolutely amazing and cool and what not. But think if someone had something similar without knowing anything about it. Just spontaneously. First just ie. going to sleep. And then wake up somewhere else as someone else or someplace else without anyone you knew yesterday even existing there. And after all those years waking up...

Seeing as everybody's dreams are their own some may age and some may not age within the dream. There is really no way observing for cranky people would actually work. I know more young cranky people then old. I believe most people are opinionated and lots are sure of themselves. Well considering that the rules that govern our waking life are limited but the realm of our dreams have no bounderies our brain could manifest and create a scenario that one could percieve thier dream to be a longer in duration than logic thinking would allow us to normally. 100 years. I can't qiute comprehend that though. JMO.

I cant remember who, but someone on the forum proposed that we see the long lucid dreams like you would see a movie, (only seeing the important parts) so something like getting in the car and riding to work wouldnt really be in the LD, but beeing at work would. also, its very hard to belkieve that someone could dream for 100 years, if you did dream that long then how would you know that you had? for me if even in real life a year goes by I start forgetting everything that happend in the past year, so what I think is that the movie scenerio is most likely especially because obviously you dont sleep in dreams and sleeping is the way that we reset our biological clocks to percieve time.
