Did I deny lucidity in this dream?

Around a week ago I had a dream thats been on my mind for a while now and I want to know what happened. Heres the dream from my DJ:

The dream started when I was sitting on the chair in my room, and I randomly looked at my hands and they were normal, I then done a nose pinch and I could breathe through, but I didn't believe I was dreaming, I thought it was too real, so I put my finger through my palm and it went through, I still didn't believe I was dreaming, I thought if I was dreaming I would be able to wake myself up and I did.

What I want to know if I was actually lucid, but I denied it? Like I told my self I wasn't so I lost lucidity. The dream felt exactly the same as real life too. Im quite worried about the same thing happening again when I next go lucid.

This seems to happen quite often to people it seems, doesn't seem like u where lucid cause u didn't beleve it. A quick solution is to adjust your future RC a little bit, like don't just do an RC but also think while ur doing it and say to yourself "If this works, i am dreaming and will become lucid"

Your dreams can sometimes play little tricks on you, seems like that happend to you. Although at the end, seemed like u where really close but i wouldn't test it by trying to wake yourself up.

Hope this is a little bit helpfull for you, and good luck in the future.

All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.

It's best to have failure happen early in life. It wakes up the Phoenix bird in you so you rise from the ashes.

Dont worry. Ive done it too... wasted an LD doing RCs as I just didnt believe I was dreaming.Tell yourself next time you will trust it. Most times I dont even need an RC... I just know. The more you have the more you realize how real they seem so it isnt as hard to convince yourself its a dream. After 50 LDs my adrenalin rush realizing I am in a dream is much less, too.

As you have probably seen before, if you don't believe it, it won't happen, maybe you need to enhance your reality checks and come to a 100% certain decision if you are dreaming or not.. so you really belive if it's real life or not. Just a suggestion

I know a lot of times, people do RC checks during the day without thinking about why they are doing it. Practicing ADA, and actually questioning weather or not you are dreaming, will help your RCs have more effect. For example, listen to conversations and say 'do these conversations really make sense, or am I dreaming?' Look at an object, and ask 'is this object supposed to look like this, or am I dreaming?'

      Ooh, their breath is warm
      And they smell like sleep
And they say they take me home
      Like poppies heavy with seed
They take me deeper and deeper

You didn't deny lucidity, your dreaming mind was just convinced that the impossible events you described were real. Reality checking on its own is quite futile. Instead you should get into the habit of asking yourself why you think your awake/dreaming after performing one.

The general principle is just to keep your eyes out for anything odd. (I'm sure you've heard this before but I can't stress this enough, train yourself to do this.)

It is all day awareness, there is a few excellent tutorials on here for ADA.

Mostly it is about being more aware during your daily activities, which should pass through to your dreams, making it easier for you to spot that you are dreaming, and also increase the detail of the dream.

Like when you walk down the street, instead of just walking to where you are going, take notice of everything; the sound of your footsteps, the stretch in your muscles as you walk, the wind in your hair and face, the sounds of a road somewhere nearly, or voices of a school in the distance. The feel of the humindity in the air from the rain, and the texture of your coat as you pull it around you to keep warm.

      And so on...
