      Light switches don't work

I can't get light switches to work and it's really bugging me! Today I became lucid and went inside my old house with my mom and the light switch didn't work. Then I tried to turn it on with my mind, no luck. Then I had my mom try to turn it on, Still no luck!!! This has happened 3 other times, along with in the first lucid dream I had once I knew what lucid dreaming was. Any tips to get it to work?

Light switches normally don't work in dreams. Thats why people use them as reality checks. But you can definitely turn on the light switch if you really want to and EXPECT it to. Realize that in your dreams you can do anything in your own mind and imagination...and you are in complete control. Because the light switch didn't go on for the past 3 times you don't expect it to turn on anymore. KNOW that the light switch will turn on if you expect it to and believe, and it will.

Aw man if I had a dream that like I would have been like, "Sweet! This means I'm dreaming! Later mom! *flies away*"

I think there is a greater reason for light switches not working than simply expecting them to or not. Otherwise they would have worked the first time, and every time after within non-lucids.

If trying to beat your expectations into submission fails, you might try some archetypal manipulation. This is a way of working with your mind to achieve a result. As an example, Light needs electricity, and electricity can come from static, so in a dream you might shuffle your feet vigorously on the carpet then touch the lightbulb with the intent of transferring static electricity to it. (Though, I'm not sure that spending time on that problem will be very rewarding in the end.)

Anyways, best of luck! Let us know if you manage to get it lit!

RebelSeven has an excellent point! You can definitely try doing physics stuff to get it to work. But in the bigger picture, it would probably be better to spend your lucid moments doing something else more exciting. :3

      Good luck and happy dreaming

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
