Hi

Just woke up from a 14 hours sleep (haven't had that in years&#33 so needless to say I had a lot dreams, but unfortunately no LD's, except for one.

I can't remember what triggered it, but at one point I suddenly got lucid, not entirely but just enough to perform the finger through the hand technique...

It worked BUT it hurt me? I mean really hurt, like if I stabbed my hand with a knife? It's very rare that I feel pain in dreams, and especially not in LD's.

I remember doing it and thinkin how strange it was, and wondering if I were actually doing the RC while sleeping, perhaps pressing my finger really hard against my hand?

      Anyone ever tried this?

Whenever someone talks about that certain technique I think of Jesus, since I believe putting your pointer fingers in your palm twice with both hands is Sign Language for him =P

ANYWAY, that's really weird- maybe you're just thinking logically or something? Like, you see something going through your hand, so you automatically believe it's pain?

      I can imagine that...

When I do it, it feels like I'm putting my finger through melted plastic. Maybe you are thinking about it too much like Armageddon_Heaven said, causing you to believe pain would happen. When you try it next try to think that if you were dreaming then you wouldn't experience pain.

I use that RC often (mostly for the fun of it) and I never experienced any pain.

In my only lucid dream to date, this is the RC I used, the finger went thru, but I felt a bit of pain like i was pushing into my palm too hard(nothing excruciating). I don't know what caused it, perhaps the fact that I had read this topic a couple of days before, my subconsious thought it would hurt and it did.

I don't think you did it in your sleep because you should be in sleep paralysis at that point.

I think there are two ways you could feel that. One is if you think it will hurt, then it will. The second is if your actual hand is in an uncomfortable position which could incorporate the pain in your dream (kind of like being in a concert in your dream when you hear music in real life). What your body is experiencing irl can affect how your dreams turn out.

This has happened to me many times, and it really amazes me how the mind can simulate such realistic experiences in dreams. In one lucid, I tried to imagine that if I poked my finger through my hand, I would feel ticklish, and it happened! It was very interesting.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
