      Unable to sleep

Hi people! This is something that happened to me last night. I just thought it was interesting, so I'm going to share it.
I'm trying DEILD and WILDS right now. But since about three weeks ago when I first started trying to LD, I was picking up on how close I was to sleep. Especially with WILDS, that awareness increased. Last night I woke up from a dream and moved, so it was difficult to doa DEILD. But when I tried to go back to sleep, normally, I couldn't. I now use a mantra until a certain point, and then observe my breathing. And I usually fall asleep in five minutes. But when I turned to observing my breathing, i couldn't sleep. I literally felt myself on the verge of sleep, unable to cross. For ten minutes, until I just got up for awhile. Anyone tell me why? Nothing was in my mind. I'm just curious, it's odd.

Hmm it could be any reason, but did you slept during the day like a nap? Because that can mess up my ability to go to sleep.

However there is one way that many people forget when they have trouble falling sleep. You know the way you close your eyes when you try to go to sleep normally, you somehow intituvely know how to do when you try to go to sleep. Hard to explain but you maybe understand what I mean. Anyway if you move upon awakening try to do that falling asleep procedure for just a few seconds and then stop yourself and try to be aware, that way you can induce all the strange sensations that come right before a dream and actually use them to enter one!

It can of course also be used to fall asleep unconsciously if that's your goal

I notice it's hard to sleep if you try concentrating on sleeping too, observing your breathing makes you concentrate on being awake/asleep, etc thus it makes going to sleep tougher.

If there's nothing you can think off that is making you loose sleep, it's mostly what carrot refered: your overthinking is making you unable to go asleep, by making you become anxious and thus, eliminating your chances of relaxing and drifting into sleep.
