The best way to approach the issue is not trying to prevent false awakenings (as they can happen without you having a word on it), but to perform a reality check whenever you get into or out of bed. |

If you're not too concerned about the dream becoming more realistic by stabilizing (through touching objects, or saying "Clarity!", etc.), then sure, you don't have to stabilize. But it does help, it only takes a few moments at the initial point, and after that, you can just go with the conviction that you will have a long and stable lucid dream. |

hmm ok. Ill try stabilizing tonight. Its just that ive never had a lucid dream that wasnt more vivid than WL, and never unstable until the FA about ten mins later. I shall touch everything in my room before jumping out the window. My usual routine is get lucid (everytime in my room, i dont know why..) and take off the screen, open the window and JUMP and have a kick ass time. |

The last lucid I had (weeks ago), I started touching my body, and really get into feeling the bumps and edges. And I also touched the wall as well, and focused on finer details, like how my bicycle in the dream was completely different than the waking life version. |

I always used to have a false awakening in which I woke up and wrote in my dream journal. Quite counter-productive really because when I woke up for real I always assumed it was already written until it was too late to start writing. I got into the habit of reality-checking every time I woke up which meant that when I had an FA, it would turn into a lucid dream easily. |
