      Sleeping with my eyes open?

So I laid down to sleep last night, and began to slip into a dream when I noticed that my eyes were still open and my lights were still on... I only noticed this, however, an hour and a half after I originally got into bed. It didn't feel any different from beginning to dream with my eyes closed, either. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Not sure if nocturnal lagophthalmos, or false awakening. x)

It's possible that you had your eyes closed the whole time, then opened them near the end without noticing it. I've done that a couple of times. I slept beside my sister and she said I had my eyes closed, and I just flashed them open them a few seconds before I actually woke up. I couldn't remember opening them, and the dream still went on before I woke up for real. I have nocturnal lagophthalmos, where my eyes don't completely close when I'm sleeping, and a little bit of my eyeballs can be seen on the lower part of my eyes.

Or it could have been a false awakening where you dreamt about being in your room and awake. Do you remember how the dream ended or what happened to it when you noticed your eyes were open?

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

That might be (probably is) it... Unfortunately, I was the only one in the room at the time. Can you elaborate more on that nocturnal lagophthalmos thing? that sounds interesting!

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't notice the link! Thanks for the information!

As for it being a false awakening, I clearly remember the dream ending with me in a forest, and then suddenly laying on my back looking up at the ceiling. Weird.
