what once was, is no more

So I got out of basic training and I started getting back into my LD process. My frustration lies in the fact that when I first started, it only took me about a week or two to get lucid. From there it was a common occurrence. It's been over a month and still nothing. Not even close to being aware. I do rc's, dream journal, ADA, the works. If it happened that fast before, shouldn't I be able to in the same time frame, seeing as I know what to look for?

People actually say that it is harder as you get older, but my guess is that after the first week and a half you just lost confidence.

      I would:
keep up what you are doing. Make sure that those RCs are actually checking reality, not just going through the motions. You aren't doing them to fill a quota, you are doing them to gain awareness of your current state of being. :meditation:

DJ: make sure you are writing down what time you have more vivid and aware dreams.

Make sure you are sleeping enough. It is very hard to LD on lack of sleep. The most LDs come out of the 6th and 7th hours because you are in REM longer and your mind is becoming active in preparation for the day. Both don't happen on lack of sleep. 7-8 hours needed. Don't go to sleep tired!

I tried one time a year and a half ago and had an LD. Then I forgot about it for about a year, then I had a random LD that sparked my interest and I started up. It took me a month and a half to have another one. :/

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions just ask. I will hopefully be able to answer.

Have you changed your sleeping schedule at some point? I had very similar problem with my WILD'ing when i had to change my sleeping schedule, was trying to figure out what's going on for months, and when switched back to old schedule i was back to semi-regular WILDs. Dunno if it's the thing in your case, just trying to guess.

I'm on a dry spell for recall. One that goes up, I should be cruising.

Seriously though. The big thing is state of mind. BELIEVE you'll have a Lucid Dream. Remind yourself that you are aware CONSTANTLY while trying to fall asleep. Take the comforting feeling of being tucked in bed, pillow, blanket, sleepy, comfy, IN ONE HAND. In the OTHER hand, hold the fact that you are conscious, aware, and vivid. Remind yourself. "I am lucid. The world is vivid."

Keep doing that and you should see results.

When I started out, something that would actually work for me was, drink a bunch of water before bed. Don't like.....chug unnatually. Just an adequate amount of fluid intake. Go to bed before the urge to urinate sets in. Now, the sensation and your REM cycle should coincide, and you'll wake up to pee at the right time. Get up, go to the washroom, do your business, and keep the awakening to under 15 minutes, so you don't FULLY wake up. Go back to sleep. You interrupted the REM cycle, and you'll get into it faster. The likelihood of having a lucid dream increases greatly.
(Not trolling. This genuinely worked for me when I was starting out.)

Do not try and bend the spoon--that's impossible. Instead only try and realize the truth...there is no spoon. Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends

      it is only yourself

Jerad. That is actually something a lot of people use, the water before bed. I get up because of mental conditioning, but nights that I feel more tired than usual (which effects all forms of lucidity) I use water as a back up.
