      I'm scared of lucid dreaming

Like, I haven't tried lucid dreaming yet but I will, I believe it. Anyway, I heard if you think something will happen-it will. So then my mind will start going crazy thinking I am in a lucid dream and I have a big fear of snakes, and it will pop up in my mind (long story) so then snakes will appear, I WILL BE SO SCARED. what should I do when snakes or anything scary appears, should I call in the name of jesus to help me??

First thought that comes to my mind... and I'm quoting the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy here... DON"T PANIC!

But seriously, the more you think about something, the more likely that you'll dream about it, so it's best not to think of what scares you. That being said, if you encounter a snake in a Lucid Dream, then you will probably be less scared because you will know that it's only a dream and that a snake can't hurt you.

If you see a snake in real life, chances are you'll try to get away from it. Right? So, most likely you'll just try to get away from it in the dream too.
Love it seems made flying dreams
      So hearts could soar,
Heaven sent these wings were meant,
      To prove once more,
      That love is the key,
      Love is the key.

I have a big fear of spiders, but when i dream of spiders or encounter them in a lucid dream they don't seem to spark the same fear that i would feel in real life.

To tell you a little story about expectation...

In my last LD i became lucid on a long road, at the same time i noticed a figure comming towards me from the other end of the road.

I panicked and thought something like: "Shit shit shit, this is turning into something scary."

I placed my hands over my face so i wouldn't panic from seeing something nasty, but after a while without anything happening i removed my hands only to see a woman standing there laughing at me for acting silly.

What i am trying to say is, things will not always appear just by you thinking they will.
Often, if you want to make anything appear in a dream, you will have to convince your brain to believe it will. This applies, from my experience, both to things you want to appear and things you don't want to appear.

In the beginning i also feared lucid dreaming a little, but let me tell you, when you become lucid for the first time i don't even think you will have time to think of something scary. xD

i have a similar problem. When i start thinking about what i want to dream, the scary face pops in my mind and i try to move it from my head, but it just returns every time and I must try to fall asleep trying not to think about it...

Well, my best advice is to just go with it.

If you try NOT to think about it, chances are that you will think about it even more.
Thinking about NOT thinking about something is the same as actually thinking about it.

Just "man up" and go with it. <--- I don't mean to sound condescending, it's just the only phrase i got for it.

I hope you know what i mean.

Lucid dreaming has it's moments, but all in all it will teach you to overcome fear if you use it right.
